Reagan Stands by the Brave People of Ukraine!

Day 5,212, 23:16 Published in USA USA by Ronald Gipper Reagan

We could use some real leadership these days. President Reagan would know what to do!

I have been profoundly distraught the past several days for our dear Ukrainian friends, and troubled by the isolationism that seems to be prevalent across the political spectrum in today's world. Supplying Ukraine with the arms it needs helps, but we have a moral imperative to do more. We guaranteed Ukrainian security in exchange for giving up their nuclear weapons, a broken promise. The word of the United States of America means nothing anymore, and the world knows it. It makes me ashamed, and it is a disgrace. We have awful "leadership" who stands by and does nothing, thinking threatening sanctions is going to deter a murderous despot who respects nothing but hard power.

Vladimir Putin has no regard for the lives of his own people. He just ordered 45,000 body bags. Sending Russians to die and to kill Ukrainians, for what? His dream of a new Soviet Empire? Sending Slavs to kill other Slavs, and inventing outrageous lies and falsehoods about Nazi's and persecutions of Russians, and for what? He has turned Russia in to a pariah state, and risked mortal danger to the entire world by his actions. NATO doesn't pose a threat to Russia. The cold war is over, or at least it was supposed to be.

If I were President I would have put American troops in Ukraine weeks ago. Let him dare and attack us. You don't deal with a schoolyard bully by threatening to withhold his lunch money and talking a big game. You do it with a show of strength and force. This country and the western world once understood that, and I'm afraid it seems to no longer do so.

Most people go their entire lives without really doing something that matters, fighting for something they believe in. This would be a cause worthy of our intervention. These people are fighting for their freedom and independence of their nation against one of the most powerful military forces in the world. Everything is on the line for Ukraine, and we must do more.

I would like to extend my thoughts and prayers to the courageous people of Ukraine, and hope for a victory that puts this insanity to an end as soon as possible.

The Russian people deserve better than a tyrant who throws away the lives of his own citizens.
The Ukrainian people deserve to choose their own destiny in peace, and their sovereignty respected.
