Ranger's Analysis: CP election

Day 1,079, 23:04 Published in Australia Australia by Ranger Bob

Well, an interesting pre-campaign from the big 3 - Hinokai, Wally Wilson, and Paul Hamon.

HINOKAI

Pros:

A good cabinet with a number of strong and committed eAussies. I do think Hinokai has released a more detailed economic policy than the others, and demonstrates a resonable understanding of the (sans war-impact) monetary market, global forces and things to get us active.

Hinokai is a doer.

Cons:

I think he has been a touch cagey with his war policy. It would also NOT be an attractive thing to the masses to openly state he does not wish to battle with eIndo (perhaps better to have said they sucked, and he wanted to, but not right now). But, it would have greatly helped if people had a sense of his views about the eventual battle which both sides know is inevidable, and craft his articles to give people confidence that after months of a PTO, and a long period before of occupation, eAus is not rolling over.

For some of the reasons following from the above, while Hinokai _is_ a doer, I am not sure he is an _inspirer_.

WALLY WILSON

Pros:

Wally is a pretty good communicator, and knows what the public wants to hear. He also appears to have several plans to achieve them which is a very good start. While I personally haven't seen his cabinet, he has some pretty prominent folk on his team, and assuming they stay around will place him well over the next month.

I think Wally has a far better handle on the importance and contribution of the War module, to an EXISTING economy that is growing, not saying we have to focus on one thing to the exclusion of our international interests. If the aim of the game is to increase our active people, and our population, I doubt economy alone will do that. AND HE GETS IT.

Cons:

I think people that don't like Wally, really don't like him. In addition, while some of his recent news articles have been unifying and caused great celebration (he presided in the term we finally beat a PTO) - sometimes they lack real substance. I hope to see something a bit more detailed from him published (ON HERE) soon.

PAUL HAMON

Pro:

I think what Paul Hamon has that the others lack, is the understanding that the SOCIAL side, and supporting new players and keeping them here, will help us in the longer term. People play this game because they want to, and they need that little "hook" to catch them and get them excited about the game. Paul of the three, has definitely demonstrated he will do this. Both in his previous involvement in PaPP (regardless of their eventual PTO and return - and it could have happened to ANY party given their numbers at the time) and working on private schemes to support new players.

While some people get annoyed with his tactics (like messaging EVERYONE) - apparently, that WORKS.

Con:

While he has not explicitly stated his views regarding war, as for the other two above, I do think there is a general appreciation that war impacts the economic module. The depth and extent to this, is not clear.

Low tax is reasonable, and I support a reduction - but not to the extent offered in his platform. Tax, and USING that tax to put in place programs to get "younger" folk interested - and committed - has a role.

=========================

Anyway, that's my write up. Frankly for me, I think they each have incredible strengths, and in some cases, great weaknesses. I want to see Paul and Wally's cabinet before forming a final view - and, I suggest largely, anyone voting tomorrow should do the same.

Having done the job, the CP may steer the ship, but it ALWAYS comes down to the workers in roles such as Cabinet etc that makes a CP shine or crash and burn. You need a great communicator, and a leader, but you also need a team that works.

That is all. Good luck guys.
