RAMBLE: Tonight? Spaghetti Westerns
Edana Savage
This Ramble is brought to you by Marmite. Love it or Hate it, it's still good for you. *wink*
I'm a big fan of Spaghetti Westerns especially those by Sergio Leone. "The Man With No Name" Trilogy starring Clint Eastwood and my all time favorite, "Once Upon a Time in the West" starring Henry Fonda and Charles Bronson. The music by Ennio Morricone is classic. Although they were created and produced by Italians and the Spanish, they captured something quite unique about the American West and inspired numerous iconic shots we associate with westerns today.

Filled with symbolism. The emotions stark and unvarnished. There is no happy ending in the traditional sense.
Yet, there is this strange sense that life goes on. That over the next horizon is the next thing and then the next. Even though we are scarred, broken, beaten down, we continue to pick ourselves up, dust off, and do it again. It's only when our bodies quit on us that we stop and move the journey into the next life.
What does this have to do with eRep. Nothing and everything.
Much of what we do here is symbolic. Symbolic in that we are part of eIreland. Symbolic in that we seek to create a United Ireland. Our emotions are stark and unvarnished. We argue as passionately here as we do in real life. Perhaps even more so. There is a certain freedom afforded to those quiet individuals who find real life confrontations too intense. The comforting buffer of the internet creates keyboard warriors and technology titans, Paragons of the Pentium Age.
While all that is well and good, I find that the friendships I have formed on here have a way of drifting over to my real life. This is where I find the true benefit of playing this game. You all have been extremely useful as a sounding board for my unique rhetoric. I have used it to great effect in my real life work as a disability advocate. My dealings with real life politicians has been colourful to say the least and has been quite effective in moving them the direction I want. There is something quite empowering when you can change a legislators' mind about a very important issue and ultimately change thousands of lives in the process.
If I with all my very human limitations can do this in my little part of the world, wouldn't it be true that others could do the same? And if a person finds he or she is successful on eRep would it be so alien to think that those same skills could be applied with great success in real life?
I think so.
So play away. You may learn a skill that might change the real world.

One more Ennio Morricone.......

I love RL/e-Rep cross overs. I believe in e-Rep, Art Imitates Life & One is nothing without the other.
Btw, I don't like Marmite - and I'll eat anything...
Always preferred Lasagna Drama's myself. La stratificazione sottile la pasta con la salsa cavalcato angoscia e il denso ma saporito formaggio di vita, Bella Così!
But I see where you are coming from 😉
Wow , sure was a ramble lol.
Once Upon A Time In The West is good, but there just no beating The Good, The Bad And The Ugly. Sabata is decent too. VOTED.
"The comforting buffer of the internet creates keyboard warriors and technology titans, Paragons of the Pentium Age."
Nice line! 🙂
@Hunter But you love me, right? @Donovan Yes, I know you understand what I'm saying. Probably better than most. @Cas I warned you! lol @John I love "The Good, The Bad and The Ugly too. Eli Wallach was wonderful. @John Thank you! I try.
I like Spaghetti Westerns. I like the way the boots are all reverbed out walking across the floors. In fact eveythings got that big reverbed sound. Lyrics from Primus.
I feel the same way.
Clint is God
