Questions for the great and powerful
wingfield
Small parties and individuals are locked out of power in e-Republik and particularly in the eUS. However, we do have one thing left - our votes.
As we approach our first Congressional election in a long time, thanks mainly to those unfunded military units filled with individuals outside of the government's inner circles, we have watched the ruthless grab for tax dollars by the government, whose supporters may say that it can do nothing about the 25% work tax, but they have cheerfully lined their pockets by forcing up average wages.
So, if you want our votes, each party president should answer the following questions:
1. Will your nominees in Congress vote for a reduction in the work tax?
2. What level of work tax will your delegates support?
3. Will you promise to support funding of private military units without strings attached (other than not fighting against the eUS)?
4. Will your delegates exercise their votes on the basis of party policy and instructions from you, rather than submitting to the rules of the forum?
Answer these questions the right way and you will be on track for many private votes. Show that your party is not just a branch of the one-party state formerly known as Unity and its logo will attract many clicks on election day.
Oh, and if you are a PP with "foreign ties", show how you will put America (and its LOYAL citizens) first.
Remember, everyone, that one of our options is "None of the above". Don't think that we are unwilling to follow that particular option.
Anyone who wants our votes has to show us why we should give them!
Looking forward to answers ...

You want our votes, you tell us what you are going to do with them!
Or give a frothing philippic about Ajay, that usually works on most of the population.
I wish the best of luck. I would have your back, if I thought I could help. A democratic politician, will avoid the issues.
Rampant taxation will only hamper player retention in the long term; which will in turn dissuade members of the eAmerican community from buying gold.
Excellent article; hopefully many will participate in the discussion.
Guys, please read up on the tax situation. Due to an "update" the manager tax was set by Plato. Since we did not have a congress in game to reset the tax it remained at the top level until we get our congress back. It will be lowered as soon as congress is convened in game. I am nothing but a noob, but it would seem obvious that no one in there right mind would support a 25% tax on anything. As for funding of MUs. as a member of the eAirforce (for now) I know they have difficulty funding that.so sending funds to other MUs is most likely not going to happen.
We are perfectly aware of the tax situation and what the economic council decided to do to rake in even more money. However, for whoever I can advise, we want answers before we vote. Tell your PP to get onto it.
There is no "decided to do to rake in more money", as it is mechanically impossible to propose a change before 06:00 eR time on the 26th.
After that, you can start speculating about whether or not the Economic Powers that Be will force us to stick with it.
Talking about what was done this month, not whatever tricks will occur in the future. The "decided to rake in more money" was exactly what happened this month.
Kemal Ergenekon not only supports a 25% tax, he and the economic council enforces on America; makes me doubt seriously if the Work Tax will be lowered at all....
I read you article about candidate questions. I am not a PP, but I am a candidate for the NLRP who is going to be in the 5-8 priority level. If you would permit me to speak for my party, I will answer your questions based on my own stance.
1.Yes
2. Depending on the numbers the treasury comes out with, between 5%-10%, I lean towards about 6%.
3.No
4. Neither. I will vote based on feedback from my party and my own convictions based on sound evidence and knowledge.
1) Yes
2) 1%-5%
3) Yes
4) I will vote my conscience
I do not frequent the meta player/Pfeifferist/elitist controlled eUS Forums, I will go there if I reach Congress to vote only on game mechanic laws such a natural enemy, lower taxes etc...I will also support moving the Congressional Forums from the eUS Forums to the eRepublik Forum....
4) Since Party Policy and my Instructions are to follow the meta procedures, yes
The reason I would not follow 'meta procedures' is that by the time a party follows them a week of game time has passed and nothing has gotten done. I will vote on 'in game mechanic' Laws based on who set it (any thing AFA automatically gets a no vote) and the current sitrep...I will not vote on anything which effects the 'meta game' and not eRepublik...like our constitution which is only effects the 'meta players' and is totally unenforceable....
Actually, the constitution dictates the rules for congress that govern voting. The voting rules affect which proposals get passed on the forums and inserted ingame. Also, forum debates affect IES procedure which controls immigration. Lastly, the forums allow for discussion of an idea outside of the 24-48 hour window for voting in game.
All of which could be handled in game through PMs, there is absolutely no reason to have our Congress outside the game; especially with the reopening of the eRepublik Forums....
1) Yes
2) 5-10%, the math is still being done.
3) No. If you're going to fund a branch, you should be able to direct it's damage.
4) Since Party Policy and my Instructions are to follow the meta procedures, yes.
3) No. If you're going to fund a branch, you should be able to direct it's damage
You direct their damage by setting the MU DO, as long as the MU is fighting for America or an Ally it would be a win-win....
OK, Kudos to DylanBAS, Drew Blood and Talotastic for answering.
Best answer was from Drew Blood, followed closely by DylanBAS. Dylan's party got squeezed out at the last minute. This leaves my endorsement with Drew Blood and WTP.
I'll be back next week with more questions for the CP candidates.
1. Yes
2. 1% for the first month to see what effect it has on retention and government income.
3. I believe Combat Orders funding is a viable way to help eUS citizens and their MUs compensate for damage used for the government and their allies.
4. I will follow the Constitution as it is, but I will also vote my conscience over all else.
