An Inspirational Scene to set the mood.

Greetings America,

My name is Daniel Dodge, and this month I am running for Congress in the State of Minnesota as a member of the UIP.

I have been around the block the last year or so. Last fall I spent 4 consecutive terms in the eUS Congress before taking a break from the game for RL reasons. When I came back I tried my hand elsewhere, I moved to the eUK with my mentor Jude Connors, but didn't like the rain and weird food so I decided to move down to eSouth Africa, where I was a member of Congress for a month. Then RL forced me out again and when I came back I decided to try a 6th Party, becoming President of the Green Party for a month. Then I worked a summer job and this fall I moved to eNew Zealand with the first wave of settlers.

I loved my time there but never trusted the Serbian/Slovenian residents and that national distrust stalled any meaningful progress so I moved back home. I am happy to be back in my native land. As a RL resident of Wisconsin I harbor some natural animosity with the "Land of 10000 Lakes" but if elected I promise to serve unbiasedly and not, you know, annex the state to Canada or some such nonsense.

The past couple of weeks has seen two major issues: taxes and this whole Revolution/Counter-Revolution/FEC mess

1) Taxes - The government needs income, that is a sad reality in both RL and eRepublik. Taxes are the most effective way to bring in income and therefore will always be very important. I have seen some decent articles from people I respect arguing for both the current tax rate and lower tax rates. If elected I will continue to do research and work to the best of my ability to support a tax code that is both effective and efficient, funding the government adequately while allowing citizens to keep as much of their income as possible.

2) Revolution/Counter-Revolution/FEC - I stated when I moved back that I thought the Revolution/Counter-Revolution story line was a great way to boost activity and interest and I stick by that. I had no involvement in any aspects of it or what resulted from it, so I can't really say anything on the issue. As for the FEC, the eUS has always struggled with handling elections, I applaud the efforts taken every month to ensure electoral safety from outside threats, but as far back as I can recall, it seems there is some mini-controversy every month or two regarding how the elections are handled/organized. Because of this, I believe a review is in order, an evaluation to determine how the FEC can be made more effective.

The way I see it, Congress will always need to discuss things more. While one can argue what Congress is responsible for, in a large country like the eUS there is no shortage of things to work on. All Congressman should be active and something should always be getting worked on/debated while Congress is in session. If elected I will be very active and push for activity from my fellow Congressman.
