Put TheBlackAdder back in Senate

Day 608, 21:18 Published in Australia Australia by TheBlackAdder

When the next elections roll around I would like you to vote for me in NSW
A seemingly strange request I know;
Who would want to be willingly subjected to childish squabbling, strict proceedures and public scrutiny?
The answer; Someone who wants to serve their country as best they can.

In the past I have proved myself to be an active, commited senator, contributing to a lot of discussion. Unfortunatly this term has, from what I can tell, been one of the least active terms so far in terms of Senate discussion. This is mostly due to a large number of senators being elected who frankly do not contribute whatsoever.

This wonderful article by Melchizedek Smith outlines everyones work this term and it is some really great work compiling all this information in one article. I suggest everyone at least skim reads it.

Activity and contributing is the most important thing (and they are not necessarily the same) I would rather see someone with conflicting ideas to mine voted in that will contribute than someone with the same ideals that wont. So whichever way you wish to vote, please vote for someone who will contribute to discussion!

After that long introduction I now bring you my ideas.

Senate Reform?

There has been a lot of discussion about this recently. A lot of senators have said they want reform, none have said how (so far)
Personally I do not support senate reform. The senate has worked very well in the past.
Instead I support a few changes and mostly I support active senators.
People complain we get no discussion, this is not because of beuracracy, it is because of uncommited senators.
I conceed that at times too much red tape has hindered the discussion, and I would support the "slackening" of the rules in cases, but we NEED a formal structure for bills. Perhaps a re-vamp of the bill template to make it simpler could help, but completely re-vamping the senate, in my opinion, could be counter productive.

Voting hall viewability

If elected I will propose that, like the senate discussion forum the voting forum will be viewable to everyone (but only posts by senators obviously 😛)
Sensative votes will be held in the sensative forum.
As a civilian this term it has frustrated me not being able to see what is being voted on, at times this lead me to believe the senate was doing absolutely nothing. This will make all senators more accountable and the system more accessible to people not in the senate.

Increased military funding

I will push for increased military funding. This will be in the form of a greater stockpile and a "war fund"
These will both be used as emergency stockpiles for war times. Basically the DoD will store a lot more weapons and will also be allocated a "war fund" (name open to suggestion 😛) which can be used for wellness packs ect.
The aim will be to increase the war fund and stockpile each term. This would be done by having a budget surplus. Hopefully in a few terms it could be at 2500g+

Open to suggestions

I am open to suggestions from anyone, If you have any questions feel free to ask me. If you have any ideas I would be more than happy to help you work on them and propose them on your behalf.
I may be an old dog but I still have a few tricks to learn 😛
Asking questions is a great way to learn and get involved in the community 😃

Conclusion

I will be active and contribute where I can and I will do my best to implement the above ideas.
Concerning other issues, I will always vote for what I believe is the best outcome. If you want more detail you could look back at my previous articles, I still hold the same ideals.

Lastly to the next pm, I would still like to be deputy treasurer so next term ill be watching you 😛

And yes, I am back

Good luck to everyone running this term
