Join the new world

Dear citizen of eRepublik,

Big news today, as I've decided to run for congress. In this article will follow an introduction of me.


My name is Hemmer and I am a real life Dutchmen. A few years back I first started playing eRepublik. After a while I had to quit though, because of personal business. A little over a month ago, I ran into the game again, and restarted playing. I've been enjoying it ever since, and am trying to become an active part in the eDutch community.

In eRepublik I am an independent politician. I have no political party that binds me to certain views, musts or orders from higher in command. This means that I will deal with every issue differently. I will carefully examine it, and then judge. Ofcourse, the hot topic right now is the war with Belgium. I will write my thoughts on that down in this article.

The war with eBelgium
It's great to fight eBE. If you visit the real Netherlands, most of the Dutchies will always secretly dream of annexing the real Belgium. The same thought runs through the eNetherlands. But just because of this doesn't mean the war is good, no, it's good for different reasons.

Firstly, it's great to fight a war for your own nation. People turn more active, the community grows, people join the forum & IRC more often. Because we want our precious eNetherlands to survive. So more active people, that's not bad, is it?

Besides activity, the economy of our country turned into a warmode economy. Cash is flowing more and more than ever before. And because we are at war with eBelgium, players from all around the world come to our nation to fight. They will buy from our markets to supply themselves. It might cause inflation, so our prices might rise, but so will the wages. This means less work before a raw material factory can be bought, or more items can be bought in foreign countries. This war is one great impulse to our economy.

What gives that we are driving eBE into the arms of ONE? This means we'll always have a fighting partner as neighbour.
Which means our economy stays a war-economy which is about 3/4 times as big as a non-war economy.
Which means our players stay more active.
Which means we can keep on getting archievements.
Which means we have a place for our new players to gain experience for actual wars.

To summarise my thoughts on the war with eBelgium. As long as we're not in too much trouble, we should continue this war.

Please, do come to me with your problems, and a personal approach will be used to settle your issues. If there are wrongs in the eNetherlands that you've stumbled upon, please do notify me. There is always a solution, the easy or the hard way. If I'm chosen to represent you in congress, I will use my voice to represent my voters on the political stage.

My ingame activity has grown a lot the last month. I've been elected Captain of the eDutch Army, which I enjoy doing. But if I'm chosen into congress, why not give up that position next elections, to a newer player, for him to gain experience.

I am currently working on an embassy for the eNetherlands in eIsrael as well. Hopefully this will soon be opened.
