Progress in Motion
Korbin King
I agreed to give daily updates on our administration's progress. This is a brief update lacking details because I want to provide complete details and I don't have them ready yet.
My Cabinet
So far it looks like I am keeping everyone from Jack's administration. I will provide the complete list tomorrow with any additions from volunteers found in the comments of my last article.
Labor Reallocation
Clearly it would be against what I believe in to force a reallocation with government money, so I'll start with my own. I now own a Q1 Food company called Fruity Oaty Bar which can be found under my new Organization Blue Sun Corporation Thailand.
Basically I have posted minimum 1 skill level jobs at 1 THB (pay will be adjusted to meet 1 x Skill Level after you start working). Additionally, each of the new 10 employees will donate 10 THB to me.
...I'll continue after you stop laughing...
Now for the golden lining. Each of these ten employees will receive 10 shares of stock in Fruity Oaty Bar. Each share will be worth $1.10 THB to start, (assuming I get 10 employees) because I put 10 THB in myself. As the company begins to produce, each share will always be worth 1% of the company's internal assets. Internal assets include gold, all currency and inventory value in THB. These shares can be traded at any time. You merely need to find a buyer.
Ok, I'm going into more detail than I wanted to at this point, so I'll add more in the next article.
The jobs have been posted, so let's start making low cost food and get that share price up!

Also, that pic used to be my avatar on the Firefly forum I used
Nice. I edited it slightly to fit the square format.
I'll probably be joining Fruity Oaty Bar late on Sunday, once I can leave my current job and have enough money to buy a part of the company. I may not have a high skill level, nor a high wellness, but I will try to be active through anything life throws at me.
Ive gotten my skill up in construction...I'd make the switch if you have a job offer in that field. Or, if its for the good of the nation (producing food) I'll be happy to make the switch...but I'll have to my share in installments as I am broke...lol
We'll make it work Callagan.
Kepi, aim for Cyberdyne Defense Systems once your Construction reaches 3. It's still a priority, I just decided to attack the Food industry as an equally important priority. I will most likely end up in Cyberdyne as well. This food company is a first step in having employees find a vested interest in the company they work for. A chance to own a piece of the bigger pie. Everyone loves pie.
1. Change the Income Tax and VAT for food
2. My food company are looking for new employeers, with fair salary
This is my first post since the elections (busy RL unfortunately)so let me take the opportunity to congratulate KK for his presidential success.
I will not make any comments about the Fruity Oaty Bar enterprise as I am not sure about the full implications or the purpose of it. I will simply say I am not convinced that Government should create a nationalised industry this way. I believe in market forces and encouraging new investors should take priority.
By the way. what will happen with those share holders that become inactive or are banned? Where will their funds go?
copied from my comment on another threa😛
maybe set up a gov't funded immigration department that subsidizes moving tickets and recruits new comers to Thailand? hmmm
@Low Cost: That unfortunately is a holdover from the previous TNT congress when we were negotiating with them to lower taxes from 20%. There has to be some congressmen willing to drop them down now.
@niceboy: That isn't a government industry. That is a private industry. He is taking the lead in creating a food company to help provide for eThailand.

As Beorn states, this isn't a nationalized industry, it is to the contrary an attempt to encourage investors. The idea is fairly simple: give the employees a reason to care about the company they work for, beyond the size of the paycheck they receive. If workers have a stake in the success of a company, they'll not immediately abandon it when a higher-paying job offer appears. If this model is generally adopted, we might be able to halt the rampant wage inflation (and by corollary, the rampant price inflation).
I can see that it will encourage the ordinary citizen as an investor and this may prove to be positive in the long run. However it may not necessarily do so and I worry that such a centralised approach may equally fail.
Being the devil's advocate, for a worker, what is the point of having a share in a company that you have little or, should we say, no control over? If workers work for little and the only reward is that you will purchase the product of your company for little, will that not perpetuate poverty? What about being more imaginative? If we have to invest, we could also invest abroad where manpower is not an issue and make a profit in emerging / developed markets. We should also try to make a profit on exports and stop worrying about the "work for what you need" culture. With no trade embargoes against us, we are in a globalised economy. Let's make the most of it.
@niceboy
If your argument for "the point of having shares in a company" was valid, there would be no stock market or speculative trading in real life, hell, or even in eRepublik.
By participating in such a venture it is a "gamble", but the potential profits are far more than an average salary could be. (Assuming you've cast your die with a GM with a track record of success)
By centralised I meant that workers are being directed in certain directions basically by a central government. Now we are told that we should work in food and a DS, later build a hospital and maybe something else. The problem in having blind faith in this approach (and an unaccountable GM)is the government losing sight of the bigger picture and missing that the money and other collateral benefits may be in a different area.
Anyway, I am not knocking the proposal entirely, I am just expressing some reservations.
@niceboy - It is not centralized or run by the government. Workers are not being directed to move anywhere. An offer is being made to new employees by individual GM's to motivate them into staying with one company due to a vested interest. The type of industries that follow a similar model will be chosen by the respective GM's. I am recommending certain industries that we currently need but it's not a directive of any kind. I'm just trying to motivate employee loyalty without offering ridiculously high wages that can only be sustained by a select few that may or may not have acquired their funds by honorable methods.
The fact that there's still no one working for this company disturbs me. Of course, that's probably because everyone is still working in other companies. Hopefully others will jump aboard later on.
@niceboy: The government is offering jobs making a defense company because it is something that would be incredibly hard for a private citizen to start one. We are producing Q4 DS's which take incredible amounts of time and effort to make. As an example, I have near perfect wellness and around 4.75 skill in construction. I am producing in that company a mere 4 units a day. At optimum numbers that could maybe double so lets say I can make 7 units a day at full capacity. 7 units times 20 employees all as skilled and well as me, is 140 units a day. You need 2000 units to make a defense system, so it would take around 15 days for the system to be built. 15 days of labor for 20 citizens at lets say 4 THB a day(thats incredibly low btw given the salary spiral we are going through) is 80 THB a day, 1200 THB a system. Add to that the 8000!!! wood needed for each unit at lets say a discounted rate of .5 THB a unit(closer to 1 but lets assume a government discount), is another 4000 THB per system. 5200 THB a system. Thats assuming cheap labor and very cheap wood. Looking at the human resource page, a skill 4 construction worker can get close to 12 THB a day, which would triple the worker costs. That means costs could be closer to 7600 THB a DS. DS building is considered a labor for bettering eThailand, not as a career choice.
Oh and by the way, we ACTUALLY should get more workers in grain, not food. We are importing grain to supply our companies which shouldn't be happening.
@beorn - If that's the case I can sit on Fruity Oaty Bar indefinitely as it's not like it will lose value. I only chose food because I saw the market empty for 3 days straight and figured we needed food. Additionally, we have existing food companies sitting on stockpiles of food which I just can't understand. If my company was up and running I would put my entire stock on the market each day. What are they waiting for?
@Korbin King: There are only two companies in eThailand producing grain and selling it right now, and one of those is for sale (New company's Grain) for 59 gold. The other is MuayThaiGrain. However, most food companies have enough grain stored away that they can produce food for a while before having to go and buy more grain. As such, I personally believe that we should focus on getting food on the market right now, and deal with importing grain at a later time.
I have a grain company but I'm keeping sort of dormant until salaries drop and the need for grain arises again.
I know that one of my friends food companies, Charmin Ultra, has no grain left and sent its workers elsewhere so they could keep working. Last time I looked they had about 30 units of grain in stock and 1 active employee working.
Any company sitting on food is either using it for feeding its workers, which I believe is what the TNT company is doing, or waiting until people are desperate for food so they can charge massively inflated prices. That is an incredibly despicable act especially since they are likely buying up grain so no one else can produce food.
I remember we were talking before the elections about buying a hospital and a DS for astronomical amounts of money. Listening to Beorn80, getting one DS for less than 8000 THB sounds like a bargain. Maybe the DS company should pay those wages and get everyone to benefit, including the country.
@niceboy: Those are rough numbers. Number one it assumes we can get 20 skill 4.75 wellness 100 workers to stay for 15+ days for one system. Note that what I mentioned was merely direct costs. It didn't include the almost 100 gold to get a Q4!!! company and if we were to import a DS or hospital we would probably need to pay the additional 20g for a license. Thats 120g which is something around I think 200THB a gold. Thats 24000THB more at the rate of 200THB a unit. Its been much higher before when the gold was purchased. I'm sorry I didn't include the costs of making the company. I figured a simple cost breakdown would be sufficient.
