Presidential Manifesto Part 3

Day 1,107, 16:34 Published in Ireland Ireland by James Ferrin
Introduction

Hello again Ireland. It’s been a nice week so far though I know many of you are bogged down with snow and are unfortunately missing some days of school, haha. It’s starting to get to that stage of the year IRL that marks the seasonal tides of staying indoors by the fire and, in general, being lethargic. We must, however, stay vigilant in these upcoming weeks in eRepublik as many changes abound and the invasion of the UK rolls slowly to an end. I hope to detail to you in this part of my manifesto the key ideas I have for next month should you choose to elect me, and the roles each person on my cabinet will play, as well as the rest of you fine citizens.

Ministry of Defense

Probably the most effort that will happen this next month will be in regards to our military. This is in one part due to some struggles we’ve had in this invasion, and how we might correct these in the future. Yet in on another count, it is due to the conflicts we have had this past month with the ICA.

If I am elected President I will do my best to bring these two ever competing groups together. In my time in eRep I can confidently say that there have been few times the Irish have fought as strongly and as fiercely as they have with each other. There are of course the instances of war with the UK (which I have no intention of getting rid of 🙂 ) but for the most part, we sit around and pass the time by thinking of ways to one up each other.

You might have seen Michael Hook’s (my MoFA) recent article on the ideas of how to bring the ICA and the Irish Government closer together. There is some explanations necessary to fully understand this:

1) The ICA would be paid an incentive (being passed by the Dail itself) in order to fall in line with the wishes of the Irish Government (these stipulations will be decided on by the Dail itself).

2) In the case that the ICA no longer want to follow these stipulations, or they break one of them, they will lose the incentive pay from the Government for that month, and any months that they continue outside the guidelines.

This is not a punishment. It is merely an offering from the government to the ICA for their support. Clearly, if they no longer wish to serve the government with their support, it is their choice and they will not receive compensation.

Another key plan for the IDF this next month will be devising a plan (a method of action, really) by which we can assess the profits and losses of our Companies and their supplies. This will help us decide how to run these companies in the future and how best to use them to supply our troops. There will also be major accountability in this regard, for I plan on having some quotas and ‘caps’ on how much food and weapons we supply. This plan of supply will seek to incorporate everyone who fights for Ireland, and not just the IDF.

Na Fianna

As has been detailed, Nith will remain as Commander of the Na Fianna branch of the Defense Department. I want to work on restructuring the IDF and NF in a way that would reflect two different branches within the MoD itself. Funding for Na Fianna will be selected from the funds given to the Minister of Defense to use towards the IDF. From there, the NF Commander will decide how to use the NF section of the funds to the best of their ability.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs

As a current and former Minister of Foreign Affairs, I’ve had a lot to think about this subject. Michael, Don, and CT are all well equipped to carry out the needs of this Department, and I hope to work very closely to get some major things accomplished.

First of all, if you haven’t seen it yet, check out Don’s article here. You might be thinking “Well why don’t you tell us your own opinions on the matter?” And the fact is, when you have such great minds around full of ideas, it’s just not necessary. I’ve selected everyone on my possible Cabinet because they are some great thinkers, and I trust their ideas. This happens to be one of them.

This is a time where the Admins have changed so much that the lines of our countries are starting to fade. We saw it for a while when we owned North Dakota and Connecticut. The new horizon of eRepublik will indeed be difficult for many to grasp. There is a need more than ever for nations to cooperate and work together in land swaps for high economic growth. Not only is this an opportunity to raise our own GDP but it is also a time to bond more with our allies.

As an MoFA and a Commander in the ICA, I know how important, how crucial each person you know in eRepublik can be. Connections are everything in this game. That’s why it’s a social experiment, a game of networking. I want everyone on my Cabinet to know the ‘who’s who’ in the next month and to become (if not good friends) then atleast acquaintances with the members of other governments. And as a bit of advice to our younger citizens, I encourage you to take up this idea today, and get out there and just talk to people. You never know where it might land you.

Ministry of Finance

Ahhh, economics. Everyone’s favorite subject, right? Right? Ok maybe not >.> But, they are a necessity and hate them or love them, they make the world go round.

I’ve tasked Kavrocks with a difficult job. Have no mistake, I plan on re-hauling the way we do finance in this country. Moomoohead has put forward a fantastic idea this past month in regards to budgeting our government. I’ve never really seen it down, yet it seems so obvious to me. I want to stress to everyone that due to our horrific history of hijacks (as well as just in general) I plan on setting forth a campaign to not only audit every expenditure from the government, and to improve the security of our companies and organizations, but also to create a successful budgeting scheme that future Presidents might be able to use to help them run this country.

Let’s be frank, times have been tough for Ireland recently. War always helps but the sad truth is that the IEP value is very poor compared to other currencies in the world and it seems like every day we are losing citizens. I can not stress enough, however, the importance of securing the governments assets and means of income first before any consideration to raising expenses. I have tasked the MoF to carry out some goals of raising the value of the IEP and lowering our inflation so that once our money is secure it will be set for initially slow but, over time, large growths.

Ministry of Industry

As I have stated, a key issue this next month will be security. Amal3k is well versed in cyber-security and is just the kind of guy to help Ireland’s assets remain secure now and into the future. He will be tasked with organizing some simple guidelines for CPs in the future to abide by to ensure the utmost safety of our assets.

As Industry implies, there are also going to be some critical developments with companies in Ireland. Two words- New Resources. I already have some ideas on expanding some on our state companies in regards to securing some of the new resources Ireland will be gaining in order to help our government accrue a profit. I have asked Kavrocks to work on a new model we can use for mathematically identifying the profits and losses of our companies, and at which ratio it is best to sell or supply at. As there are many variables at play, I am sure that this formula may change, but I offer it to any Presidents in the future who wish to use it for the benefit of the country. Making Ireland efficient will not only help us to grow economically and expand militarily, but it will ensure that if a breach in security does happen in the future, that our losses will be smaller in scale.

Other Ministries

As I have stated previously, I plan to leave the Dail delegated ministries (undertaken by Moo) with the Dail. I believe in giving the Dail more things to do, and I think it will help Presidents accomplish more as well as ensure a shared responsibility and balance of power. I do have some advice for the Dail though.

As some may have noticed, I have yet to announce a Minister of New Citizens. I have some key people in mind, but have not heard from them. I will make public my choice for MoNC before the elections, likely in my 5th and final part of this manifesto.

I would like the MoNC to work closely with the goals of the Education Department (as overseen by the Dail). I have heard some fantastic ideas in regards to revamping our Education Ministry. One such idea is the possible re-installment of the mentor program. Anyone remember those days?

With such a gap in player base (new vs. old) now is the greatest time, more than ever, to put this program back into play. It will be the duty of the MoNC to work with the Dail to find such mentors and to set up new citizens with these specialized mentors so that they may be better prepared to lead this country in the future.

I urge the Dail to set the guidelines of what information the mentors must cover, and to ensure the fairness and neutrality of said mentors. They should be men and women of upstanding caliber and character, with values that transcend party lines. I trust this to be a challenge, but a good demonstration of the people’s voice in the Dail.

Conclusion

Unity, security, accountability, restructurization, and growth. These are the key principles by which I wish to lead the upcoming Presidency, and I would be honored if you would choose to elect me on the 5th of December. Take care, Ireland.
