PP Platform Part Deux (PP PRIMARY NOW OPEN!)

Day 994, 19:54 Published in USA USA by Indrae

Hello everyone. This is part two of my PP platform. I'd like to inform you that the PP primary is now active, and you can vote here.

There are two things a party needs to be efficient at in order to survive: recruitment and retention. If a party cannot attract new members, it is on a path towards failure. The leaders and important members of the party that we have now will not always be around, and if we haven’t done an adequate job of recruiting, there might not be anyone to take their places. If a party is not able to keep its members interested in staying in the party (and possibly, the game), then any efforts that were put towards recruitment would have been wasted.

As a party, we need to be effective at both attracting new members, and also able to keep them engaged and interested in the party.

Recruitment

There are many different strategies we can use for recruiting. That being said, we should not make ourselves rely on only one method and hope for the best. We need to take advantage of any opportunity we have to attract new members.

Mass Messaging
One approach would be to send messages to newer members. In these messages we could give them a little info about our party, offer to help them learn how to play the game, and encourage them to become active. Along with a message, a friend request would be a good thing to do. The most efficient way to do this would be to have a dedicated MMing team. An MMing team would be a great place for new members to prove their dedication to the party.

Ads
This is a pretty straightforward idea. We would make sure we have an ad up a good portion of the time (it would be too expensive to try and keep one up 24/7). A compelling ad would help catch newer players’ attention. The ad would be linked to an article in our newspaper that would provide the history of our party, our ideals, and other pertinent info about the party.

RL/Internet Friends
This is a strategy that focuses more on the willingness of our party members. We can encourage our ADTPers to try and get their friends from either RL or other online games/websites to join the game, and hopefully also into the ADTP.

Retention

Even if we recruit a lot of new members, there is no guarantee they will stay, especially if they don’t get any enjoyment out of their time in the party.

Party Militia
The military module is an important part of the game. While the military is usually the best option for those interested in participating in battles and wars, some people prefer militias. They might like them because of their close-knit nature, the fact that they are less demanding, or for other reasons. The Executive Committee over the past few weeks has discussed creating a militia, but nothing solid has really come out of the discussions.

If I’m elected, one of my main goals is to get some form of militia set up. It will be open to all ADTP members, and will host coordinated mass attacks to compliment the Civilian Mass Attacks. The mass attacks would be open to non-party members.

Party Events/Contests
Aside from elections, the party doesn’t come together to do anything fun. Even though elections and politics is the main purpose of a party, fostering a community is an important part of the party’s survival. Perhaps one day someone decides that they want to do a trivia tournament, or perhaps a Risk tournament. They could come to the party leadership and ask for some support in organizing (the party could also provide prizes such as weapons, money, etc.). These events would give party members the chance to get to know each other, form bonds, and most importantly, have fun.

Mentoring
New players often have a lot of questions, especially now that we are in V2, which is considerably more complicated than V1 (also, it has more annoying as hell bugs). If we offer support to them early on, and help them get their feet on the ground, they would be more inclined to stay in the party. To accomplish this, we will have older, more experienced members, volunteer to help the newbies. The party would provide support for these mentors and mentees (is that a real word?).
