PP Elections, Nuts and Bolts

Day 3,461, 11:36 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Dishmcds
Hello there again;

In my last article, I outlined some ideas on what I intend to work on should you feel that I would be the best candidate for Party President of the UKRP. Those were basic ideas of what I wanted to work on, here's some of the nuts and bolts that I believe will help us regain our traction, and push us forward towards the future.

1. Party has Goals, Party Makes Decisions

While I believe in party leadership, I also believe that every person in the UKRP should have a say as to our approach, as well as the ability to express themselves. I believe in being available and open, allowing for the development of ideas (whether on discord, the forums, or in a party message here in-game) so that each party member has the ability to succeed on a personal level, as well as a group.

2. New Player Assistance

The biggest key to success is the ability to not only coordinate our current membership, but to make sure that every new player has the ability to be successful in Erepublik. In my experience, most of the time the "group of friends", hereby referenced as "the party you belong to", you link up with them. If we, as a party, can help some new players (regardless of which party they tend to join), get some discussion going, and overall get some improvement from it, then that should be our primary goal. We need to set up a couple of our active players to help new player grow. Doing it out of the private sector also allows us to not use Government funds, which is more responsible in that aspect.

3. Election Coordination

The main function here for a Political Party (rea😛 group of friends who like to hang out and do stuff) is the political module. This includes nominating people for Congress (Senate), President (Princeps Senatus), and so on. This means we all stand for similar basic ideals in Erepublik (group and individual successes, and so on). In my experience, the best way to improve performance is three fol😛 Open dialogue (being available on chat, forums, or in game), promoting both new and experienced players for Congress based on current activity rather than "length of service", offering some sort of activity boost around elections, such as party games, a fun night, coordinated IRC/Discord voting discussions, and primaries for CP elections to ensure that the person we run as a party is in line with the majority opinion (also ensuring that the person who is running is actually a member of the party they are running from so there are no issues trying to put them up for CP).

4. Party to Party Discussion

One of the aspects of this game is to have open dialogue between the other parties, understanding that they might not think the same way or believe the same way you do. That's perfectly okay, to be honest. Discussion is typically the best way to get good ideas, and evolve them to work towards being a better, more active country. Other parties might have good ideas, and it only benefits us as a nation to be open to them. We might not agree, or like each other a whole lot, but there's also an understanding that we're all here to improve the UK (well, hopefully we all are).

5. Senate/Congressional Activity

One of the main killers is when you get someone elected, and they disappear, or propose votes in Congress without discussion. We cannot, at current, get a bonus from a training war because our Congress (or the people in it) are not coordinating. Whether you're in to meta-game, or not, it makes absolutely zero sense to not afford our citizens the best available. We need to reinstate accountability to our MPs/Senators, and ensure that if they run as part of the UKRP, they act according to the country's best interests. If they do not (and a one time error is not a blacklist offense, it should be allowed to have a couple of mistakes), we need to ensure that they are not in Congress until they can learn to work together.

For me, that's the nuts and bolts of what we should be doing for the next month. If you'd allow, I'd love to be a part of that as your Party President, although regardless of who wins I'll be here to help even if you believe there are other candidates that are more suited. I look forward to a spirited election, and best of luck to all.
