Possibly More Significant; The Presidential Matter; Best Addressed

Day 818, 11:59 Published in Switzerland Switzerland by Lynari

There has been a lot of talk lately about whom we will put up as our candidate for the Presidency, but sooner than that election are the possibly more significant Congressional elections. I needlessly waited until after the election for Party President of the Swiss Liberal Party to begin organizing, but nobody stood to challenge me. I almost would have liked if someone had; actually winning the election instead of being the only choice would have reinforced my confidence that people actually care for my being here. But no matter! Now is the time for action. Members of the SLP, expect a PM from me today or tomorrow* regarding the elections. This is purely for informational purposes. Later, I’ll issue an article, probably accompanied with more PM’s, with something more directive.

The Presidential matter, I believe, is being handled well. A primary is the best way to do it. Ideally, the matter of which candidate the people preferred for President would have been settled in the elections for Party President, but it is too late for that. I was not directly consulted in the forming of this decision, (amusing, as I control the SLP nomination,) but I’ve been watching the discussion and I’ll go along nonetheless. I fear I am still regarded as a stranger despite my best efforts. Nobody expects me to offer myself, and so I won’t. I am undecided as to whom I think is most appropriate for President. Luckily, it doesn’t matter, because a primary will put me in a backseat in the decision.

I do have one piece of advice for the primary’s organizers. It seems to me - correct me if I’m mistaken - that you intend to have people vote by commenting on a newspaper. This should really be done as a poll on the forum. There are two reasons for this: firstly, voting is better done discreetly; secondly, it will serve to force people to register on the forum. This is just my advice.

Lastly, I’d like to address my loyalty. I do not think it was in question, but it is best addressed! The day before yesterday I wrote an article to Austria titled So Clearly Destined to Persevere regarding their invasion by Croatia. It is true that I am still loyal to Austria, and how can’t I be? I so greatly wish a dual citizenship was possible! Just know that so long as Switzerland’s interests don’t come into conflict with Austria’s, it means nothing for how I view Switzerland. I can be a patriot of two nations.
