PJK for Congress!

Day 1,493, 21:23 Published in Australia Australia by Paul J Keating

My fellow Australians, I seek your endorsement to represent your interests as a member of congress in my home state of New South Wales.

I am a relatively new member of the community, only a few weeks of age. You may be asking what can such a young and immature citizen can hope to bring to government? There are a couple of things I’d like to bring to your attention in my favour:

1. Activity and dedication - from what I’m told after being elected about half of the successful candidates sit around with their head up their a$$es doing sweet FA for the people who elected them. Should you vote for me you’ll find me an active, involved and willing contributor to policy discussion and debate.

2. A vote for the future - as a young citizen I represent the future of this country, and do not carry the baggage of a long history in the game. That means no preconceived ideas and no knee-jerk reactions. In considering matters before congress I will always take a long-term view as a priority over short-term expediency. Congress is responsible not only to today’s electors, but also to future generations, and I will treat this responsibility with great care.

3.Common sense - It doesn’t take a decade learning the rules of the game to show a little common sense, an attribute I have in spades.

4. Ambition - I hold high ambitions both personally and for my country. I’ve seen a lot of people saying that young citizens can never hope to achieve anything because the deck is stacked towards senior players. That a small country is doomed to perpetual failure because the rules favour larger, powerful countries. Well, all that may be true, I’m yet to find out, but I hold great hopes both personally and for Australia. Whether or not we can achieve all we want to achieve is yet to be seen but I believe we can and must get better and stronger and we must do it quickly. I want to be a part of that.

I won’t make any silly promises, except to serve you to the best of my ability. If you have a specific issue or question, feel free to contact me to discuss. On election day vote for activity, for the future, for common sense and a shared ambition to make this country great!
