Peculiar Party Politics...

Day 801, 22:41 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Lord Weiis

My two cents on: eUK Party Politics and all that.

Well, a whole 5 days has passed since the first congressional elections of 2010! And these were a real storm! This election was different for several reasons.
Firstly, a good portion of the population of the eUK currently lives in London, meaning that would be a hard fought region, with all 4 wild-cards, and also that the election would be won and lost be the floating voters, so basically it was a competition to see which party was the most organized, the most efficient and the most mobile.
here are a few handy-dandy charts and what not to break it all up for you... (thanks to C B Fry Iain Keers, and Malta for these!)

(Last Month)

(This Month)

(Left to Right= Most Congressmen, Most Votes, Top Candidate)
(Grey=No Obvious Candidate, Dark blue=UKRP, Light Blue=TUP, Red😛CP, Black=RFA, Purple-BEP)

(Party name= Number of Members, Number of Votes, Seats in Congress, Percent of Congress)

United Kingdom Reform Party= 639, 371 ,10 , 23.26

The Unity Party= 827, 383, 16, 37.21

The British Empire Party= 269, 161, 2, 4.65

Radical Freethinkers Alliance= 408, 289, 11, 25.58

People's Communist Party= 224, 151, 4, 9.3

A few interesting things here that i just want to discuss.
Firstly the UKRP and TUP had virtually the same number of votes each, even though the UKRP has far less members, but the TUP won 6 more seats. This suggests that the TUP won those extra seats based on their smarter and better use of floaters around the country. Something else you may notice is the RFA won 11 seats, an all time high for them. This could represent a new shift in the balance of power. Previously the power struggle had been between the UKRP and TUP, the Center-Left and Center-Right, but the RFA is growing in power, growing in members and now their growing in congress. This is probably in no small part down to their hard work and the hard work of their PP GGRyan. How will this effect party politics in the eUK? Is this a sign the public are ready for a center orientated party to take over in London? Only time will tell.

Of course some other big news, The BEP disappeared!

Thats right! it was here one moment and the next...well im sure you get the idea.
There are a lot of theories flying around. Some like the Poles got it banned, though i will point out that when the UK Ba'ath party got banned, you could still view its profile page, where as the BEP has completely and utterly vanished! Others hope its just a glitch that will be fixed ASAP. Whatever it is, some things are obvious.
The disappearance leaves a top 5 spot open, that was swiftly filled by the FDP. Some have said that they got rid of a weak Right wing party, only to get another stronger Right wing party in return. It will certainly be interesting to see what effects this will have. The FDP are definitly more organized, but are they more capable, and will they have what it takes to stay up in the top 5? This also effects the rumored BEP-RFA merger, though the resounding success of the RFA in the elections could well have dashed any hopes of that happening.

So whats on the table for this congress term? Well you can see what the TUP have to say in a definitely thought provoking article on national goals and programs for this next month. http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/-tup-national-manifesto-1160567/1/20
Other things include a review of taxes, preparation for the upcoming invasion (the proper one), Reformation in the Military and some new lords for that old House o' Lords up thar.

Well that's all for this week folks!

Thanks for your time!
