PEACE: The Alliance - Peace: The Idea

Day 637, 22:58 Published in Greece USA by James Skyrider

Does PEACE actually want peace with the US or with the eworld for that matter? Well frankly, that just depends on who you ask (I know, how surprising right!). If you go to the forums and read individual PEACE players comments, you will find a mixed reaction to the proposed treaty with the US, as is to be expected. Many are strongly against it. These people are the ones who state things such as "When you have the enemy down, you don't take your foot off their throat." As well as "You guys (the US and allies) deserve to be wiped off the map for your past hostilities and attempted conquests." At the same time, there are those who WOULD support the treaty if the conditions of the treaty were changed. For instance, more gold for occupied regions, especially high resource regions, but that is highly unlikely to happen. Besides, isn't 16,000 in free gold plus what is being offered enough? Anyway, I digress.

To be honest, I haven't really ran into any PEACE player that just flat out says yes, they support the treaty whole heartedly as it stands. I'm sure they are out there somewhere, but like I said, I haven't ran into them and would welcome their comments at the end of this article. We are all interested in hearing your voice.

As for the eworld, the real question is, what do the leaders of PEACE want? This is where it gets slippery boys and girls. See, PEACE leadership is always conscious of their image and how they are looked upon by the rest of the eworld, as any major alliance should be. As of right now, though they are winning the war, they are losing the PR battle in a way that is not sustainable over a long period of time. And in my opinion, they are well aware of this fact. This game is about the future for the most part, not just about the here and now.

New players come all the time and the vast majority have no idea the history. And that's not to say that even if they did, that they would be ok with the current path PEACE is on. Even though PEACE is trying hard to claim the high road here and trying hard to justify their actions in comparison to what their charter states, the new players, as well as veteran players, simply aren't going to buy it. And aren't buying it in fact. To give a real life example, PEACE is TALKING like they are the United Nations, but are ACTING like Hitler is their general. I know, I know, I will get burnt up for that statement, but it is the first thing that comes to mind when thinking of attempted world domination. If you have a better example, then just insert it there.

The fact is, that any past transgressions (as far as how PEACE sees it) by the US or our allies, have been well "punished" by now. I have heard several PEACE players state that just because an alliance is a defensive alliance, doesn't mean that they can't go on the offensive to protect themselves and their allies. True, but how much offense is the question. When you eliminate a country or countries from the map, then your claim of defense is lost. You are now no better than those you claim to be "paying back" for their transgressions. You now are no different than any other imperialistic, expansionist minded military alliance that is bent on world domination. You now have become your own worst enemy. Those who are in PEACE and are trying to help defend their actions, are the very ones that are causing PEACE to lose the PR battle, thus in time, losing players and possible new allies who might otherwise take their side. Not to mention the actions of PEACE itself, which speaks louder than any voice could ever wish to speak.

So, do the leaders of PEACE actually want peace? They might, for the sake of their future self preservation, but in my humble opinion, they don't in their "hearts". In my opinion, they would rather subjugate, break economically, and rule over any and all nations that are "non-compliant" when it comes to how THEY THINK said nations SHOULD be. And that my friends, is their internal conflict. Will they follow their heads, or will they follow their hearts? That is the ultimate question and the one that will decide their fate. I have my suspicions as to what they will do, but ultimately, only time will tell.
