Day 1,026, 18:35 Published in Ireland Ireland by Peace Corps

Evening World,

Today the Peace Corps is packing all it supplies and troops into several ground transports as the battle for Burgenland has come to a close. The Battle which was sought to liberate a oppressed region under Hungarian control. Which turned into a slaughter fest even with the Peace Corps Aid being provided. The Battle had ended with the Hungarian Oppression being left intact after the long battle.

Peace Corps Security Troops being rounded up

At the end of the battle, The Hungarians were only able to locate Peace Corps Security Forces. Which left the question in the civilians who fought alongside the Peace Corps to question. What happened to their resistance army. Making many wonder as to why the government would abandon there own people. Leaving them to defend and free themselves.

Austrian Civilians being rounded up

Although the Austrian Resistance Soldiers seem to have fled the region. The Peace Corps managed to hold small portions of the city. Holding several small skirmishes with the Hungarian Military which was much better equipped. Hearing explosions blast throughout various locations of the city as Peace Corps fought desperately into holding the city and protecting civilian life. Which reports state that many Peace Corps Security troops have been severely wounded.

While the city was having minor skirmishes throughout the city. The Hungarian Elite Military Forces planned an operation to attack the small HQ that the Peace Corps had set up withing the city to coordinate its defensive stance. The Elite Hungarian Military Force unit had moved into the city while firefights were being started at all the various points in the city to deter Peace Corps Defensive Troops from noticing their movements into positions to attack the HQ.

Hungarians Surrounding HQ of the Peace Corps Defense Operations

The Hungarians started a massive barrage of fire. Which included assault rifle fire, artillery and even that of fly by air assault fire-spraying of machine gun fire. Leaving the Peace Corps coordination communications cut from all the units throughout the city. Eventually the Peace Corps HQ was overwhelmed by the Hungarian Assault Force. Expecting to be executed by the Hungarians Military Force. The Commanders left notice that all security troops are to fight or retreat pending there situations throughout the city.

After a matter of two hours after the HQ fell the rest of the Peace Corps units were rounded up and the commanders were taken aside by the Hungarian Field Commander leading the assault on the city. Expecting the Hungarian Military Commander to order Executions the Peace Corps Officers told each of there soldiers that it was an honor to serve with them in the pursuit of freeing the oppressed.

After being escorted to a small room in a blown apart building. The Hungarian Commander gave terms of surrender to the Peace Corps. Which meant that the Peace Corps Security Force was to leave the city and region without any thoughts or attempts to fight the Hungarian Army. Also providing the Peace Corps with a promise that there would be no reprisals to the people of Burgenland that fought the Hungarian occupation.

Peace Corps being escorted out of the City and to the border

The Peace Corps would like to thank those who fought bravely in the battle for Burgenland. Even tho it was a loss. The Peace Corps acknowledges one can never always win and one must accept a defeat when it is given.

Peace Corps would like to also extend its thank you for sparing the city occupants that remain in the region of Burgenland. And for sparing the Peace Corps Troops who held out long after the HQ fell.
