Opposition’s defense plan put Patton under fire

In a move that is sure to resonate with every citizen, 5n4keyes made his official position regarding the defense of eIreland. The announcement, which came yesterday, sparked an intense debate over the use of state created weapons. The Presidential hopeful announced the he wishes to disperse the weapons created by state run companies to the ordinary citizen to be used in training wars. His logic is that the average citizen does not spend much on weapons for a simple training war and, thus, not leveling as quickly. “I propose… [to] introduce a War Scheme which will provide people with guns to use for fighting in the [training] wars. The idea is that there is a set amount of weapons to be handed out each fight.

President Patton expressed his concern over the dissemination of free weapons when he stated, “Half the point of war games is to jump the economy. If we hand out free weapons all the weapons companies will go out of business and ruin part of the reason we do the war games in the first place”.

Independent voices candidate Donovan Thomas gave THE WIRE and exclusive on his opinion regarding this controversial position. “How [do] you counter the negative effects on the marketplace of free weapons? I believe that Snake is trying to garner votes with the promise of free weapons.” In a separate statement Congressman JohnSmith2k9 said, “I think it is a good idea. I myself never use guns for [Training Wars] since it is a waste of money and they are too dear.”

Raleigh Treaty under pressure in Dail vote.

As a background, The Raleigh Treaty in a non-aggression, mutual protection pact between the eUK and eIreland. The agreement has become a foundation for positive relations with the eUK. The treaty was expected to be ratified by the Dail earlier this week but due to the recent PEACE war/annexation of Norway and the UK’s direct involvement it has given some cause for concern. According to the treaty eIreland would be required to come to the defense of the UK if they were to be invaded. This PEACE war is likely to bring Eden/Fortis to the fight and possibly draw Ireland into a major conflict.

Recently THE WIRE did a poll of Irish citizens. We asked, “Do you oppose the Raleigh Treaty if it were to draw Ireland into a conflict with Fortis/Eden?” Overwhelmingly the response was in opposition to the treaty with 71% voting in disfavor.

Currently the Dail is voting on the ratification of the treaty and currently the vote is in line nearly exactly with our independent poll. There are 4 members voting Ta and 9 members voting Nil, that is 69% oppose the Raleigh Treaty and 30% favor. THE WIRE will give you an update once the vote has been completed but it looks for the dead in the water for the mean time.

RETRACTION: THE WIRE apologises for the incorrect verbage regarding the mutual defense stated in the Raleigh Treaty Article V. Formerly the Treaty stated "Article V: Defence Pact
Both states agree to defend the other should they be invaded. This can be through military assistance, our economic support. They also agree to give the other nations diplomatic support. Both nations agree to defend the other regardless of the invaders alliance affiliation."
Currently the article states: "Article V: Defence Pact
If Ireland is invaded the UK must help Ireland. This can be through military assistance, our economic support. They also agree to give the other nations diplomatic support. Invasion is defined as a foreign nation directly declaring war, or through a foreign entity or nation attempting to take control of part or all of the government through the election system."
THE WIRE apologises for the implications both implict and explict cause by this false report. THE WIRE apologises collecting of poll data under a false premise due to updated and changed verbage in the Raleigh Treaty. It was not our intention to sway public opinion but simply to report on a public intrest story. Thank you.
