Party Sizes

One of the biggest problems with the eRepublikan political system is the party members' distribution. When players reach level 7, allowing them to join a political party, they seldom look beyond the first page of choices.
The sacredness of ideals and standpoints on issues has been somewhat lost with the over inflation of the major parties, in which users automatically drift toward the larger parties, sometimes without even a glance at the wikis or information. The vast numbers associated with our nation's largest parties are falsified by the simple luck of the many unproductive, useless members. Access to the ideals of a certain party are relatively difficult to obtain for an inexperienced user, so they tend to choose whatever is at the top of the list.
If one party manages to gain a slight advantage in the beginning, this leads to an exponential growth of membership that leaves smaller parties that did not gain this initial advantage to be left without any power or say in the government. This can be very dangerous and detrimental to our government, if a large amount of people are supporting candidates in the government that may not have the best ideas.
Therefore, the smaller parties, which may have much better organization and viewpoints, are forced to work much harder if they wish to gain a significant presence in the eAmerican political system. This is not the way it should be. When new players gain the ability to view the list of parties to join, they should be listed in alphabetical order, with no stats showing the number of members currently in the party. A link to their platform, however, should be plainly provided, and this platform should be outlined thoroughly.
I understand that this may seem to result in chaos, especially for Congressional and Presidential elections, but with this system the truly best parties would have the ability to rise up and gain power. This would also provide more interesting elections, as it would not incorporate the same predictable nominees and/or parties at each election.
In this way, the true representation in government can be obtained, and eAmerica can arise more unified than ever before, to assert its importance in the world. Even if this new party format cannot be followed, I simply urge players to choose a party based on ideals or standpoints, and not just simply because of "safety in numbers".
Thank you

how do you know everyone hasnt looked at the minor parties and have studied them carefully and came to the conclusion that the larger parties match their ideals more?
Really there is not much division between the parties so there really is not that much of a reason for joining a party that won't be going anywhere fast (or anywhere ever). Nationalist party is the closest non top 5 party to cracking the top 5 and they are 70 members back. With their growth rate they will likely surpass the UCP in about 3 months if they can keep up with recruiting.
Only way I see these small parties rising to the top is if a well known politician swoops down there and turns the party around like Uncle Sam did with the AAP.
Why not use random order, and show 20 to a page?
Alphabetic order will just give you the Aaaaaaaaamerican Worker's Party. 🙂
Love the idea, don't know if it'll work... still love it!!
Randomize them fair to all... and I am a NP member!
I agree. People just want to join the biggest party, for whatever reason. Randomizing the order of the parties would even out the playing field for the smaller parties, as well as your other ideas. Good article!
