Pathetic is about the only word that can describe the current mission set.
Add 100 friends ... anyone heard of forced marriage? Yup, this is a mild version of that.
Write an article to get 25 comments? There we go..

All this attempts to create a strong and active community are pathetic. Not the goal itself but the means.
It really shows that, after all these years, Plato or whoever is handling the monetization, failed to understand the root cause of his problems.
Fear not! I am here to unveil this intricate mystery ! Obviously the root cause is the business model, high margin relying on a few big spenders. Let aside the fact that this rarely works online, it never creates communities.
So, from this point of view, the attempts are pathetic.

The business model kills any hope in a new player to grow and join 'the big league'. If you train daily, with all TG upgraded to max, in a year you'll have ~33000 strength, make that 35000 with all the missions. That's half of what long term players have, even if they'll stop playing for that entire year.
Nope, no one likes wasting time to be mediocre.
