On why I joined The Unity Party
Dr Duncan
Let’s get this straight: I am a socialist and a liberal and I am realistic. I understand that capitalism has its place in real life and on eRepublik. I also do not wish to “smash the state”. I want to see a fair society for everybody.
This was why I wanted to join The Unity Party (TUP). When I first joined this game I looked for a party to join and I knew TUP was the party for me. Everything I read about them suggested that this was the party I wanted to join.
When I started to get fully involved with the eUK Navy then Army, I realised quickly that politics was involved in all areas of this game. I enjoyed banter with people from all over the political spectrum, but, normally if you wanted or needed help, it seemed to be those affiliated with TUP that were always the first to help. That is not to say that others didn’t either (Steven Mack and Betafoxtrot to name but two), but those with TUP leanings were certainly in ascendency when it came to helping new and young players, as far as I could see.
I then decided to get fully involved in TUP. I need to point out that I would have been more than willing to leave TUP if I thought that I wouldn’t be heard or given a chance. However, Dan Moir, who was Party President at the time, was friendly, reassuring and helpful.
Since getting involved more, I have spent more time on IRC (Internet Relay Chat) and even more time in TUP’s private channel. There is none of the negativity that one finds in some of the other eUK channels and the conversation is friendly, normally intelligent and full of good banter.
I am now in my third term, serving the wonderful people of North West England in Congress and I am proud to be a TUP congressman. The help and support I received at the start of this term due to Lord Ara being banned and getting me my rightful place in congress was second to none and I thank them all.
If you are looking for a party to join, look no further than The Unity Party.
Special thanks for getting me this far (in no particular order, except the Liverpool fan at the top):

@Goku - surely it is North Westerners, but I'm only an English teacher so I don't know anything about the formation of words.
Also, in Liverpool, we are "represented" by Manchester in a regional capacity all the time which I find offensive, but apparently we have to put up with it...
