On an League of Non-Alligned Nations
Michael Holcomb
The recent discussion of the creation of a European Social Alliance. The development of international organizations is key to the protection and preservation of national and cultural integrity. But even more so it is key to the development of market integration and the growth of not just the national but the global economy. The idea for the European Social Alliance is a good idea, it is a strong idea, and in it's area of development it will succeed in bringing Europe into eRepublik.
But I'd like to explore the idea of developing a new international organization. An idea that has been discussed before. ATLANTIS and PEACE represent the bulk of the worlds military might and population. But there remain a grouping of nations who might be interested in developing a union of non-aligned nations. My suggestion would be, not neccesarily to rush into the creation of a third military alliance, but an alliance that would group together nations that were dedicated to restoring structural integrity to nations and developing and fostering a movement of peace, the noun not the proper noun.
Make no mistake, this is not a perfect idea, and this is not a proposal for any specific nations or any exact coalition. But the hope of this article is to begin a discussion, with the purpose of exploring the idea of developing a grouping of nations who will work for true peace.

I have been reading a lot about the ESA on their forum and even though am I am quite positive, the concept is not so much about unity and economy as one might be led to believe.
So far, it is a rough idea about a united Europe and the debaters are already discussing military policies, but mainly how the bureaucracy should be constructed into different chambers. Frankly, it is just another Alliance like PEACE of ATLANTIS even if it aims to become more centralized.
I would like some kind of economic cooperation furthering international exchange and common investments between nations without becoming an alliance, which is always military in nature. Perhaps a Union between independent smaller countries,.
"Developing Nations' Initiative" maybe. 😉
I've made my opinions on Ireland's international standing before, going so far as to propose the creation of a purely defensive military alliance on the forum a few months ago (which got shot down).
I'm not sure what the purpose of a non-military alliance is in this game. Talk of unifying nations in the pursuit of peace is all well and good, but without some sort of military ties between the nations, I don't know what the alliance would actually accomplish.
From what I can tell, the majority of the citizens of eIreland have no interest in joining any sort of international group, alliance, league, etc.
Don't think there is many free European states to create this alliance or call it European social alliance.
Damn, that was my idea, then Daks had it, and now you've had it.
The ESA is a good idea, but the problem is that it will simply turn into a Europe vs. Asia, North America, Africa, or South America-style thing, a la PEACE and ATLANTIS.
@ Leo - Well It's a great idea Leo!
The problem is the military aspect will continue to stay in the way.
Sadly no political and economic agendas will not be able to be enough to keep any alliance strong, with out military might.
Sean's idea was fantastic, I recommend you read it on the forum
Well, any initiative getting appart from this two-opposed alliance world is really interesting, like it was in Cold War.
The real problem is that there is no way, except from massive MPP, to avoid a new alliance becoming a "new military alliance" since there is no way to prevent or defend from any Peace or Atlantis attack.
I don't know if there's a place for such a pacific alliance in a war-oriented game as ERepublik but it should be nice to think on it.
I love the idea of a simple protection league. If we're invaded, militarily or politically, the other members of our league would come and fight off the enemy and we'd do the same for them.
And why couldn't it have military might? Just because we would be strong wouldn't mean we would fight each other. We would defend each other, and that would get us countries like Russia, who just wants to actually be a free country for more than a week.
It's the short road from the deffensive alliance into a deffensive war... into a liberation war. Peace and Atlantis makes them also.
