Waiting for eRepublik to update through the lag at the end of the Kyushu war was excruciating. But when I could see that Japan had been lost, I was at first in disbelief then bummed. I am a relatively young player. I have not experienced very many setbacks in eRepublik battles. There have been a few, but this was the first one of any real consequence.

When these things happen it is always a good idea to let some time pass before you start tossing rocks at folks. A little time and distance from the emotions often allow for a clearer head. But I know that there will be some folks that will not wait. They will spew their emo dump all over the pages of their newspapers. In the process they will impeach or execute every person in a position to make a decision in the battle. That is nonsense. You do not compound a setback by ripping yourself to shreds. It is counterproductive.

We can spend all the time pointing fingers at our leaders and crying all we wish. But in the end all it does is separate the fools from those that have the ability to lead. For the fools will always rush in, possibly myself included.

Yes, I am sure that our government could have done some things better, so what! It is a game and we all make mistakes. It isn’t like they were trying to mess it up. Their effort was sincere and they tried hard. I guarantee you that they are more agonized over this than most of the other players. So let them figure out what they did wrong and fix it. Don’t complicate it by creating more problems.

In truth, we lost the battle in Kyushu for one reason, we did not do enough damage to win. We can talk about all the esoteric points of strategy and timing all we wish. But at the end of the battle it is the damage that matters. Because of that fact every one of us can look in the mirror and see the reason why.

Every one of us could have done more. We could have bought better weapons. We could have spent the time to contact a couple of our double-clicker friends and made sure they were on to attack before the end of the battle. We could have given our two-clicker buddies weapons to use. Maybe you do not have any two-clicker buddies, so why not? Your guidance may be what they need to become great players. We all could have done more in some way, either on December 7th and 8th or before that. We could have won with as little as 100K more damage at the end.

So what you need to do now as an American is step up and do productive things rather than rip ourselves apart over it. Help that clueless noob to become a war machine! Make sure you work to improve your communications. But most of all, don’t be one of the fools rushing in. Myself excepted, of course! 😉
