Oh, how I miss you v1
Alex Ford
😛''Looks like I have progressed in this game.'' Maybe some of you remember this?
Today you receive an iron company at almost the start of the game. You use Q6 weapons exclusively after you receive your first gold reward, and don't go back. There is no feeling of progress, there's always a guy before you and you ain't reaching, since that guy can use his gold rewards and govermental tanking support to indefinitely boost his own rankings and get more gold rewards and govermental tanking support...
As you can see for yourselves, I was born on in midway 2009, more time has passed in eRepublik since I joined it than before it. I left eRepublik initially about a year ago or so. Or not, sorry, but I have a really, really bad sense of time, but when all crap about ''eRepublik Rising'' started... that's when. I was having hard times IRL and I just couldn't take all that on top of it, so I quit. Now I'm back and, needless to say, I'm not impressed.
IN OTHER WORDS, I WANT V1 BACK.
Well, not really, the new GUI is not bad, but for other parts, do. Some suggestions:
- Players wouldn't be able to eat food more than once a day, so there would be balance between those who can eat food (=old players) and those who can't (=new players). Instead people would use their national health buildings to fight more, which would be analogous to the old hospitals.
- Players would only work once a day in any company, be it their own or someone else's.
- Modify and complexify the political system. For example introduce ''coups'' or something like that, and obviously, make it costly for players so you get money.
- Introduce ALL countries. Even if they wouldn't get sufficient RL population, they'd become colonies of big nations. Nations fight for colonies rather than directly = less real-life-butthurt = more fun = more chance of buying gold.
These are only obvious suggestions, but it is clear that an extensive revamp is to be made.

MEE TOO
True that
V1 was pretty dull, all nostalgia stripped. Economics was better, yes. Having a company, any company, had meaning, sure. Was it fair to new players? No. You were a piece of garbage unless you used gold. Everything was too expensive.
Yes, V1 surely brought dedicated players. Who would stay in a game where you have no meaning for the first 12 months of your playtime? Only the richest and most dedicated players.
Much has changed. Erelabs must be in financial distress, and they need income. So they must make the game more appealing to newer players, and at the same time keep older players happy. this is impossible to reach perfectly. When you shorten the cap between Romper and player who started today, Romper might feel robbed and quit. But, more players should come, and some of them might become the New Romper, who uses insane amounts of money to this. That is until V3, when 50% on players quit again.
It is easy to demand all kind of things. It is not, however, easy to consider erelabs’s positon. V1 might actually be the dram of the admins, too, but it just didn’t bring enough money to keep all running.
Come to eAustria, we're spreading glorious socialism here like back when we had a mudkip workers party :3
@Zacharia Raven: Too expensive? That's yet better than too cheap. Nowadays everything is so plenty that players don't need each other at all. A social game without a social element: so exciting that people are sure to invest real money. Now that new players have almost everything from the start, there is no feeling of progress compared to older players who call the shots and provide high quality tanks to newer ones, while the new players can never, no matter how good their dedication or business skills are, find market for their own product. I don't really believe admins have gotten money out of this: maybe someone should look up their public tax information and see?
@Balkan Beast: By looks of how things are going in Finland, it is possible that I soon will.
You can buy the financial data from here http://www.solocheck.ie/Irish-Company/Erepublik-Labs-Limited-462101
Expensive / cheap is basically new / old player – question. You might think, that it was better, when you had to work hard to reach any status, but it is – by definition – hard and tedious work. It is NOT very inviting in the field of web-games of today. Kissing the asses of new players is the price of staying alive.
@Zacharia Raven: You're right, but my question is: how good they are at kissing new player's asses? Nowadays there are, from what I've seen, no role models for new players. From media outside of Finnish politics I don't know any people, except for those who were famous in my days already, namely dSokre. Where are famous people who write vicious propaganda articles that make international headlines and appeal to newer players? Media today is nothing but complaining about admin's greed, so new players buy gold to become... what? There's no answer to that, and that's my point.
Oh c'mon why make the game into something it used to be: You had to be crazy to make it in the old old game! Most ppl just 2-cliked their days hoping that would bring them fame and profit.
Look today: Out of TOP-250 players in Finland more than 10% have started within 6 months.
Game is very very different, but in a good way.
@WP Attak: In V1, we didn't even care about levels. It was all about community.
