Offline Article Writer - BBCode Editor

Day 626, 20:13 Published in USA USA by wapu

I had a terrible thing happen the other day. I was composing a long and passionate plea for my choice in the eUSA presidential elections. I had bolded and I had underlined. I had links to other articles supporting my position and I had links to images I had uploaded to my personal site. I spent no less than 2 hours composing my American masterpiece that was surely going to sway the election how I wanted it.

Then it happened. I closed the tab. I wasn't closing tabs to clean up my work. I wasn't switching around between all my reference links I had open. I simply bumped the mouse. POOF. It was gone.

I was so disheartened I gave up and logged for the night.

Then today I came across an article by Kid A title I'm Quitting eRep. Sure enough he had the same thing happen. I have also seen a couple in IRC mention losing articles in the same way. I knew there must be another way to create the articles. So began the hunt for an offline BB Code editor. I was ready to scour the ends of the eWorld searching for this elusive beast.

3 clicks later and I had one. AHK BBCodeWriter 7.0.2. The hunt may have been less than epic, but this little app is perfect. I am composing this very article using it. Now, the editor will not post the article for you. However, it will allow you to compose the article, insert the BBCode tags, preview your article and save it for later.

This editor will not get you around the eRep limitations for Article formatting. However, it will save a signature and can handle the 6 tags eRep gives us. The interface is clean and simple to use, but more importantly, I will never lose another masterpiece.
