Of Bards and Beards

Day 3,216, 05:09 Published in USA USA by Wasp15

Since my lottery idea got dumped down the drain before it had even barely started, I've been thinking about other ideas for contests.
Back when I was a young high-school grad, I used to compete in story contests on an online forum. I actually won one, until the person who came in second place called for a re-vote and somehow managed to beat me by 2 votes in the 2nd round. I still swear that she bribed for votes.

Anyways, enough drama. I hereby announce the Bards and Beards Story writing contest! Better sharpen your pencil and dig out your dictionary.
There are a few ground rules, and violations of these will result in a disqualification.

1. Your story must be PG-13. We have many players under 18, so let's keep this family friendly.
2. Your story must be original. You can take an idea from another story, but you must come up with some originality to the plot.
3. Try to spell words correctly, and keep it grammatically correct. I will excuse small grammatical errors, but any story that has the phrase "U R Rite" will be automatically disqualified.
4. There must be cohesion and progression in the story.
5. Stories must be at least 20,000 words.
6. Avoid fancy fonts and/or graphics. Times New Roman or Arial fonts work just fine. Depending on how exactly I set up the submission, you may not even have a choice of font.

Players who have been disqualified are allowed to enter a new story. However if you have entered 3 times and been disqualified on all, I suggest you google "free english lessons".

While you will retain all rights to your story, when you enter the story, you give me the right to display it on a public forum for story contest purposes only.

Let the creativity begin! I will be working on setting up an easy way to submit stories and talking to some people about judging the stories. Look for another post in about a week with the submission link, judges list and deadline.
Until then, happy writing, and good luck!
