Objectivity and Obliviousness

Day 598, 21:06 Published in USA USA by St.John McCloskey

I would like to point you towards a wonderful article published in the democratic review recently: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/congress-only-toying-around-oblivious-to-corruption-overt-fraud-852386/1/20

Now, I know that everyone who reads this will immediately want to bash the congress, and to be honest, I'm all for scolding them for such a ridiculous document.

But why do we want to chastise them? It's the exact same idea that I've tried to put forward in this paper. They have not given up their Real Life prejudices. They were not objective.

There are many examples of this in the constitution, but I'll just give a quick glaring one right at the start

2. All residents of the United States are considered equal in worth. No resident shall ever be denied his basic right of Free Speech, the exceptions to these are any acts of speech which would abridge another citizens rights. Furthermore, it is the duty of the United States Government to protect and defend the right to free speech of its citizens.

Now, I know that this right is very near and dear to us in Real Life, but what does it mean in eRep?

Nothing! There is nothing that the government can do to either stifle or protect our freedom of speech, so why include anything about it in our constitution? It's just a single example of a lack of objectivity in eRep. The perfect eCitizen should forget all about his beliefs in the Real World, and build new beliefs in this New World. Many of your eCitizen's beliefs will be parallel to those of your own, but they should not be related for no reason.

I mean, we've got Nazis here on eRep. What does it mean to be an eNazi? there are no races, no way of being "better" that one another in any way, except age and all that comes with it. No, it makes no sense (not that it does make sense in Real Life either).

The philosopher's quest is to always pursue knowledge and to fight ignorance, so I will continue to try to fulfill both of these duties here in eRep. Give up your un-applicable beliefs from real life. Learn more about the game, and form new beliefs and opinions based upon learning, experience, and wisdom.

This game can be won, but only by us learning from it all that we can. By finally creating our own perfect society within our minds. We need to work together. We need to explore! The best place to explore right now, in this humble philosopher's opinion, is within the Socialist Freedom Party. We are taking a good look at the game mechanics, and not bringing any Real Life notions with us, until we've decided that they can apply, and that thier application will be for the best.

This is what we want from the game.
