NOOB Fighting Strategy
Vyrin the First
Although many will tell me that my puny damage is helping the game, I know it is only like exercise for the time when I will really get to fight.
However, I have learned that if a NOOB want to make a difference, and not just grow stronger, he has to play in a different way than suggested everywhere else.
1) Don't fight in battles that are already well underway (over 30 mins) or very lopsided. Your puny damage won't change the outcome. And even though you won't contribute much points in the early minutes of a battle, you do have the chance to at least have an affect. And by chance I mean a very slim one.
2) You will never know how much you are changing the 50/50 bar for some reason unless you calculate all the damage on both sides which I'm not even sure you can do. Even more reason to only fight in early battles.
3) Do fight for Australia when you get the chance as there is a patriot bonus associated with it.
4) If you see the other side using bazookas - the monotonous "10000" repeated over and over - the battle is already probably too late for you to make any difference. Either just take it for the exercise or look for another.
5) You actually have to pay to fight for allies. Try not to let your AUD get below 100 for this reason. Why? I don't know but noobs just have to know it.
6) Plato, Lana, the Headless Chicken actually do damage the other side. Why this completely ridiculous exercise when eRepublik tries to simulate an online world? Well, noobs will never know. Another game would actually make these tie into the battle somehow. Forget other games if you want to have any chance of enjoying this one.
7) Realize that as much as you might feel part of Division 1 battles and others may say you are important to them - you won't really make a difference before 150 strengths and using bazookas and probably not even then until you are much stronger. Yes, I can hear what you're saying! It is an exercise in patience and humility - no other game has so little reward for such a long time. Just continue to train with the hope that one day you will make a difference and ignore all the rest of the online games that actually help you feel like your making a contribution or your decisions matter from the start.

1. Don't fight in battles that are already well underway (over 30 mins) or very lopsided.
No, Fight after the one hour mark, Thats when your influence counts more.
2. Even more reason to only fight in early battles.
Again, No fight at the hour mark.
3.Do fight for Australia...
True
4. the battle is already probably too late for you to make any difference.
Again, No... Your not the only person fighting and your damage helps counteract this effect.
5. You actually have to pay to fight for allies
Its because we are occupied under eChile and cannot fight for our allies without moving regions.
6.Plato, Lana, the Headless Chicken actually do damage the other side.
That, I actually didnt know, If it is true.
7. *Rant here*
Thats completely untrue, eRepublik and eAustralia is a close community where joining the forums, going on IRC and posting articles will get you ahead, You could possibly ask for a internship to one of the...
Government departments or just be a general poster on the forums, Trust me, None of us knew what was going on when we first joined but we slowly learned through talking and just playing eRepublik. Yes, Most of the older players in the media came here during a different time but using the forums and IRC first time for them was still confusing.
So get on the forums/IRC and make a name for yourself, Maybe one day after the hard work you will be ePrime Minister!
I would still beg to differ - puny damage doesn't move the 50/50 bar after the battle is well underway - especially when others are getting 10k or even 30k per hit on the other side.
That's simple math.
And your response to my rant proves the point - "none of us new what was going on when we first joined"
No other game takes this kind of initial start up.
I'm open to further challenge. I ask and post because i care to know.
Most of what James has said is correct.
It doesn't matter how much you move the bar at the start if it just gets pushed back later on. Waiting to fight until later on lets you size up whether your damage will be of use to the final result of the battle, and also gives the enemies less time to gather forces to counter said damage. Doing this in groups is even more effective.
I beg to differ.
I just tested my theory in battle 6 in NSW.
I was the only soul fighting in Division 1. I pushed the bar up their arse past the 50/50. It mattered for 6 minutes and 60 points toward the 1800. It wasn't much but it was something.
Later in the battle where my damage does not move the bar I won't be able to contribute any points.
I think some have dogmatic blinders on that limit them from seeing my point... I say it because I love.
AND furthermore when the hour clicked by they were adding so much damage that the paltry 70k I had done would not have pushed the 50/50 bar back over 50%. In other words, I would have added no points at the hour mark and they would have had an additional 800 points already from the fact they would have won up to the hour.
I am convinced now I am right. It's just logic sorry.
Vyrin, your logic is wrong - and I don't mean that in a bad way - and is easily comparable to a real life scenario. Example: "It's okay to litter, because one persons rubbish wont make any difference." The thing is, when everyone has that mindset, everything goes too shit. The same is here, if every noob (who's damage does count, but I'll get too that in a minute) thinks the same way, they'll stop fighting right when we need them, and thus, the victory goes to chile.
On the topic of time, there's a reason we say fight AFTER the 1hr mark; that is Victory Points. Each side is trying to get too 1800 victory points, and the maximum battle time is 2 hrs; looking at it, you would think fight hard early, win quick - but again, you'd be wrong. In the first half hour, the points accumulated for winning are pathetic - something like 10 p. min - however it goes up over time (doubles every half hour I believe, but don't quote me); thus later points count for more.
On the topic of noob damage not mattering, if you were here 7 or 8 months ago, I'd agree completely. The thing is, we have no country, do you know why? It's because Chile has a very strong d1 and d2, and a decent d3. They cannot beat our d4 when we fight, but it was simply never enough. Yes, you need to train, and yes, in the early days bazooka's and rockets are absolute love, but NEVER underestimate the value of your fights.
Just quickly on the topic of fights, ALWAYS fight with atleast a q6, preferably a q7, but I understand they're expensive. If you can't afford a q6 for each fight, pm me.
Again, I can see where you're coming from, but you're thinking on the "one person" scale, when this game isn't about one person, it's about the whole country 🙂 I don't mean to be negative in anything I've said, but it had too be said.
Your local dept. Minister for Defense.
Cyber you just don't get it. I understand all your points. I wish I could speak to you live because you have the same dogmatic blinders on. I understand that VP go up fast after the hour mark. I am not stupid.
Furthermore, you speak as if attacks are coordinated. No one has ever contacted me or posted something that tells me when to fight.
Can no one bust out of their blindness here?
