A while back RainySunday gave me a tip that I now pass on to you.
If you publish a newspaper in eRepublik, you have inevitably known the agony of the eRep-timed-out-facepalm.
You know what I mean.
You've just finished editing your opus on why Plato is really Zeno in disguise and you click

By the way, just to prove to you how awesome this is, I closed this tab entirely before publishing it. I then went to a new tab (in Chrome) and used the "Recently Closed" feature in the lower right corner. This tab came up and Lazarus had the entire article exactly as I had left it. Awesomesauce.

i honestly just write articles in notepad and then copy into eRep, quick secondary proofread, then publish. only had the problem of 'poofing' my article once, maybe twice, when i was still a newb.
this is a cool thing, but i'd honestly rather not. to each their own

Or you could, you know... write your article in a gdoc, and copy/paste, like the rest of us do. lol
But seriously, I have had this happen to me before. It's awful.

I really appreciate the tip. Gnilraps has provided a good non-techie way of saving yer bacon.
Unfortunately, as I do for long @$$ comments and PM's, when I write an article, I right click, select all, right click, copy, in separate tab click on bookmarked eRep, wait for the Chrome worm to quit spinning and click publish/send/whatever. This never fails.

why not writing it in microsoft word and then just doing the finishing touches in erep, like bolding and stuff?

I generally use gedit to write my articles, but still have face-palmed a few times.
My eRep never times out, because I never log out. Chrome keeps me logged in all the time.
Warning: this will also save all your other form information; bank, facebook, gmail, etc. There are a number of malware apps that are looking for people who use this so they can pull the data. Be sure to clear it out regularly!

Key loggers are also known as malware. Do you really want everything you type stored?

Lazarus has setting where you can ask it to exclude passwords and other websites. I have it set to exclude basically everything I do other than eRepublik...
Also, set it to only store your data for a day.

this is no where near as cool as a fancy software that could aid in the theft of your identity (i said COULD), but, i play DIPLOMACY online quite a bit. Everyone should. It's Awesome, but i digress. the key point of the game is long "winded" chat back and forths. and the worst thing, much like the issues in this article is typing a long thought-out immensely important (but not really) dialogue just to have it disappear when u click send. any way blah blah blah a bunch of schitt u've already started ignoring....
ctrl + a (select all) ctrl + c (copy) [or as i prefer ctrl + x (cut) so u know it has worked when everything disappears] then ctrl + v (paste) that way if it all goes poof when u click to finalize whatever the hell ur doin' it's all stored in ur clipboard memory.
