News from the UNL and Belgium

Day 790, 09:48 Published in Canada Switzerland by HuCard
Occupation of Belgium

Flanders was conquered from the British and is currently occupied by Spain, along with Wallonia. An even more significant turn of events though was the successful resistance war in Brussels which drove out the friendly United Kingdom and once again resurrected an "independent" Belgium.
After the of the Romanian The Group reigning in Belgium for two months last year, many fear that EDEN forces will again seize control of the country and bring a new era of oppression unto the Belgians. The Romanian president who was elected by the foreign PTO group back is still in office too, making the situation even more dangerous.
The parties of the UNL are currently discussing whether or not to send voters to Brussels to avert the threat, although even if such a move was decided on it would be uncertain if it would actually succeed.

Croatian troops have already announced their intentions to take control of the country and to turn it into an EDEN puppet, making the fears of the Dutch and Belgians entirely justified. The only voices speaking positively of these happenings are unexpectedly Croatian, Greek, and other EDEN forces, and just as months ago every actual Belgian opposes this violation of their sovereignty. It remains to be seen if the Croatian dictators at least seek a minimum of contact with the actual population or if they remain as silent and hostile as their predecessors.

The economic situation in Belgium is equally abysmal: The few jobs there are are underpaid, the currency is mostly worthless, and the food supply is also insufficient.

Merger with the United Kingdom

The referendum to decide the future of the merger was finally held, but it did not come to a definite result. Due to the occupation of half of the UNL and the impending invasion of Great Britain the project is currently on indefinite hold anyway.

Takeover of the Libertarian Party

During the party elections, the Libertarian Party was taken over by an unknown low-level citizen going by the name of Cloyster Climb. Due to his completely unexpected election, a sudden wave of new party members, and the fact that he managed to surpass the experienced regular Thomas Fairfax when up until late at night it was him who led the polls, it is to be assumed that this was a hostile takeover attempt utilising multis. Or a bug.
Shortly after his rise to party president, Cloyster Climb nominated himself for country presidency, of course not according to the actual will of the party. Fortunately the situation was resolved soon; Cloyster Climb stepped back and left the party leadership to the established member CreveRoeland, his candidature was also soon retracted.

For further details, see the Libertarian Party's newspaper.

Other news

Since the UNL still fear a full-scale invasion by either Poland or Spain, the Western Netherlands are being fortified.
The MPP with Turkey was also renewed today. As the union's primary source of training battles thanks to the Turks' ongoing war with Greece, the demand for this was great and some seem to blame president ThomasRED for not being able to renew it more quickly.
