New Alliances and Austria

Day 862, 15:28 Published in Austria USA by Wade Seagrave

There is a good chance that we will be soon reaching one of the greatest events that will work for the best aid to Austria- The De-globalization of Alliances.

Even though it has not been officially passed, the United States Congress is currently in the process of voting on their withdraw from the eRepublik Defence and Economy Network, otherwise known as EDEN. This , as hypothesized by many American politicians such as the great Desertfalcon (His article here.), could potentially lead to a new alliance being made- the Broliance.

The Broliance has served as more of a symbolic alliance between the United States, Canada, and Australia (With an L. 😛). Some American politicians postulate that the United States' retreat out of EDEN will officially spur the physical creation of the Broliance. With America leaving, they would lead the way in its creation, and Canada and Australia (being relatively smaller nations), will feel safe in retreating also and joining the Broliance, which would effectively turn the eRepublik Defence and Economy Network (EDEN) back into the European Defence and Economy Network, as it would have no countries outside of Europe. Not only that, but the Broliance would then take dominance in the Pacific-North American hemisphere with the exception of Indonesia.

This means that there would be 5 main alliances which all stemmed from 2, just a few months ago. ATLANTIS and PEACE factions have been slowly breaking down into EDEN, Broliance, Entente, SOL, and Phoenix. But more may come! Assuming that the American politicians hypothesis is correct, this would set a precedent for all nations. Nations in the other global alliance, Phoenix, might start ideas of making a secondary alliance off from Entente even. What we are seeing is the De-globalization of Alliances, or making alliances more regional than global.

But what does this mean for Austria?

With the localization of alliances, alliances are going to have to start working together more in order to achieve goals- since super-power nations will be fairly spread throughout the alliances almost evenly. Which means that EDEN might have to gain the support of another alliance if they wish to invade a Phoenix nation. If Austria is a member of this "other alliance", than invading Austria may not seem as good of an idea after all.

This might also serve as a way to actually make the game more fun. Instead of 2 alliances pushing everybody around because there is only 1 opposition, there will have to be more international unity. There are going to be more ties to other nations, but they can't always be strong. In the former alliance set up, there were Enemies and there were Allies. Nothing in between. Now there are going to be many positions between the two, which should go to the benefit of all smaller nations everywhere, and make the game more fun for everybody.
