NeilP99 For North West Province

Day 792, 11:12 Published in South Africa USA by NeilP99

Nearly three months ago I moved to eSouth Africa after spending over a year in the eUS. I was looking for a new home and I now realize that I couldn’t have picked a better location to move to. Since getting here I’ve tried to help South Africa as much as I can through my experience in the game, through a high level of activity, and through the carefully thought out positions that I’ve argued for. In the future I’d like to help South Africa by serving in her Congress. That’s why I’m announcing that I’m running for the Congressional seat in North West Province.

While this would be my first term in the South African National Assembly, it wouldn’t be my first experience with being a member of Congress in eRepublik. Back in the eUS I was elected to the American Congress 4 times. I held a variety of positions and was even given access to some of the eUS’s most secure areas of discussion. I tell you this not to impress you, but to highlight one of the key areas that I think members of the National Assembly should have. Experience. My experiences in the American Congress will allow me to adapt quickly to being a member of Congress in South Africa. I know how to propose laws, I know the voting procedures, and I know the amount of time needed to be in Congress. Of course experience isn’t the only thing that matters, as even the newest player can be a great member of Congress if they are active.

Activity is another area that I think I excel in. I spend a good amount of time on the eSA national forum. While there I’m never afraid to put my ideas in front of others, and to try to build off of what others have said. I read the threads that discuss our national policies because I want to make sure that I know those policies, and that I help form those policies when my help is needed or is asked for. I consider myself a very active player, and I think that most of the people who know me would agree with that.

Of course I would never ask you to vote for me without knowing what I stand for. As a member of the Independent Alternative I believe in getting down to business. Petty arguments and partisanship will only hurt our country, so I avoid them by working with members of all parties. My American readers can tell you that being non-partisan has been one of my calling cards since I started playing eRepublik. I also believe in openness in government whenever it is possible. The people should know what their government is doing, how it is helping them, and what it could do better. Therefore, as I have when elected in the past, I will publish a record of my votes every week so that the people who elected me can know just where I stand on every issue that our government faces.

I’ve said many times that foreign policy is one of my favorite areas of this game, and in my mind it is also one of the most important. That’s even truer in the case of South Africa. We are a small nation surrounded by large nations. Diplomacy is what will keep us on the map. I believe that we should try to work with our neighbors when we can to promote better relations. However, as we all know, our neighbors haven’t always been interested in better relations. That’s why I also believe that South Africa needs to extend the hand of friendship to all nations who would act as true friends. We must also be self reliant as much as we can be by having a strong economy and strong military. The eWorld may not know eSouth Africa as the strongest nation on the map, but they should know us as the most determined to build a better country for our citizens.

I’d like to thank everyone for taking the time to read my presentation, and I encourage you to read all the presentations of the candidates in your region on Election Day before casting your vote. By making sure that you’re voting for the best candidate you’re making sure that South Africa is as strong as she can be. Hopefully you’ll vote for NeilP99, of the Independent Alternative, for North West Province. Thanks for reading, and thanks for your votes.
