Nations that need to be in the game - redux (Part 3)

Day 2,901, 14:18 Published in Norway Norway by ivan.europe

Hello readers,

Since the beginning of the rebooted series, I've received very positive feedback. Thank you for the support. As It's mentioned in the last two parts large portions of the eWorld are empty and one day this should be changed. For Part 3 I've decided to concentrate on North Africa and the Middle East regions. These regions are in political turmoil in RL over the past few years and while inclusion may not be on the horizon, adding them will bring different atmosphere. Let's go:

MOROCCO

Morocco is actually one of the most developed states in Africa that are not part of the game. Furthermore the African continent is poorly developed in eRepublik due to not many countries have regular internet access. But back to Morocco - adding Morocco (or any other African state for that matter) will result most likely be:

1. Taken over by foreigners who want political career elsewhere
2. Used by major powers as colonies for resources. But hey, that's how the Scramble for Africa began in first place 🙂

Adding African states like Morocco or Congo DR is not 100% a bad thing, because it will give chance to players, who look for reciognition elsewhere.

Regions:

To note everybody - Western Sahara (or Saharawi Arab Democractic Republic) will not be part of Morocco. Unlike Kosovo, Abkhasia or South Ossetia no one reciognise Western Sahara as Morocco's soverign territory. The regions will be more likely 3 - North (1 to 4 on the map), Central (5 to 😎 and South (9 and 10)

ALGERIA

Algeria and Morocco have a rivalry in RL, because of Algeria's support for SADR. Adding Morocco will most likely mean that Algeria must be included so both can have land buddy to fight with.

Regions:

The tricky part is how to shrink the regions on eRepublik for country as big as Algeria. Nearly the entire real population lives in the northern parts of the country, which is consisting of too many provinces. All of them wwill be merged as one - Côte Algérienne (this includes provinces 45, 3, 32, and 39). For the regions in Sahara I will use the pre-1983 regions of Algeria (17 provinces were added after that):

1. Côte Algérienne (all provinces from the first map + 45, 32, 3 and 39)
2. Ardar (1)
3. Béchar (8 and 32)
4. Tamanghasset (11)
5. Ouargla (30 and 47)

TUNISIA

Another North African country (the trend today will be from west to east) that we will look at. Tunisia is one country that doesn't have beef with any of its neghbours, but can find itself a target for some big European power.

Regions:

Here we have the opposite - Tunisia is small with too many provinces. And here I'm stuck on how to shrink them, so we'll move on

LIBYA

The last country from North Africa to look at today, Libya will most likely be target for Greece as colony. And due to its raging civil war the country will most likely not be added for the time being.

Regions

Libya has again too many small provinces on the north. However I'd narrow the number of provinces to 3 - the 3 historical states prior to the formation of what we know today as Libya:

1. Tripolitania
2. Fezzan
3. Cyrenaica

JORDAN

In Middle East apart from 2 Arab states only Israel has activity. Jordan it's neighbour on the East had a historical beef with Israel over the Palestine case. Adding eJordan may cause to either rekindle the rivalry, or being BFF's.

Regions

Jordan's regions can be shrinked down to some regions:
1. Northwest corner - 1, 2, 3, 5
2. Mafraq - 4, 7
3. Amman - 6
4. Dead Sea coast - 9, 10
5. Ma'an - 11
6. Aqaba - 12

SYRIA

Much like Jordan Syria have feud with Israel, but unlike Jordan Syria still has diputes with Israel over the Golan Heights. With the ongoing war on multiple fronts and poor internet access it's highly unlikely this country to be added.

Regions

Again small regions spread in the most populated area, but here are my proposals for eRegions:

1. Damascus - 10 and 11
2. Golan Heights - 12
3. Al-Suwayda - 13 and 14
4. Homs - 9
5. Mediterainian Sirya - 1, 2, 6 and 7
6. Aleppo - 3
7. Syrian Kurdistan - 4, 5 and 8

IRAQ

And our final pick for today - the situation is the same as Syria, so no cooment there.

Regions

Here I'm stuck - comment below on how the provinces of Iraq should look.
