My Views on Taiwan

Day 1,058, 17:44 Published in Republic of China (Taiwan) Republic of China (Taiwan) by Dekona Rodriguez

I have only been playing erep for 3 days now consecutively. I recently heard that it was switched back from v2, which was why I left, however I am now glad to be back. Thailand seemed doomed to be captured by Indonesia so I decided to flee to the most interesting place within my ticket's travel distance.
Enough with the pleasantries and introductions. Though I have not been here long I am already taking a liking to Taiwan. Here on even the lowest day's wages you can not only survive, but thrive. However I fear joining either Pheonix or EDEN, for joining one automatically pisses off the other, and as we know we are now allied with Romania, an EDEN powerhouse, which I would feel slightly less worried about if we didn't live near Indonesia, the historic rival of Romania. This raises a number of concerns for me:
1. First and most appearant is the threat of invasion, though at second glance, we would have Romania backing us.
2. This is a bigger problem in my opinion, colonization by giant imperial countries. When we are invaded we can tell who the enemy is and we can do something to fight it. However let's say we are taken over via flood of loyalists to an imperialist powers, there is nothing we can do if we are politically outnumbered by those who pledge allegiance to foreign lands. Compared to as if we are taken over militarily: we can revolt and take what is rightfully ours back, but there is no such option for a PTO.

Don't get me wrong, I am okay with allying with Romania, so long are not conned into joining EDEN. I have the same feelings about Indonesia, if we don't have to join their alliance then all is well with me, in fact I love the idea of individual alliances, but due to the intricacies of global pacts I wish not to join in unless necessary. I want Taiwan to trade and be allies with the rest of the world, I am not supporting isolationism, but I do not want Taiwan to be bossed around, blockaded, or hated simply because of one choice.
