My Un-retirement and a long rant

Day 651, 12:56 Published in Israel Israel by BuzzyTheCat

No good evenings tonight,

Sadeh is gone. Forced from his home by the great betrayal of some of his closest friends and his very own party, he has decided to leave this festering hole in the ground rather than succumb to the fate of so many other vets who have suddenly and unceremoniously had their crowns ripped off their head. Rather than continue to 2 click in a country that doesn’t want him, he decided to leave. I can’t say I blame him in the least little bit. You whining, “revolutionary” up-start, glorified 2-clicking kids who think you know sooooo much about the game and the way things work, have driven him from his home.

And what do we see now? Sadeh was all but spit on by the IWP, Franz Kafka, and its laughable little council, I announce my retirement, and within 2 days there is already a massive power vacuum occurring. For the first time in the entire history of Israel, we have 5 presidential candidates. At this moment, Israel is more disorganized and divided than we were when we first became a country. Israel started with nothing after liberation, we had no gold, no economy, nearly no citizens, two political parties… but everyone knew whom their leader was. Everyone knew whom to look for to gain strength and to feel solidarity in the cause… and that was Sadeh. Now? No one has a dam clue what is going on. There is no leader in this country, no one with the economic, foreign relation, military, or leadership skills necessary to run a political party let alone an entire country. We are left with Presidential candidates not chosen because of skill or based on merit, but candidates who were chosen to run because they were the “best candidate in their own party”. There is no spirit of self-sacrifice, there is no spirit of “doing what is best for the country” dam near everyone is out for themselves now.

So what does this mean?

I am going to come out of retirement and run again in these elections. Not by choice, not because I wanted to, but out of necessity. Yes, it really sucks for me. I was looking forward to a nice little rest and relaxation in September, possibly getting to, oh I don’t know…sleep more than 4 hours a night, but apparently that just isn’t going to happen. If I leave while Sadeh isn’t here and there are no candidates whom I believe can actually run a country, Israel is screwed. We are not a country like the US who can have an amazingly crappy President and survive on size and power, we are not a country like Spain who is so united that even being conquered doesn’t stop them… we are a collection of weak little kids with twisted and naive views on the world, we are a collection of losers who in other countries wouldn’t even make it into congress. And at the very heart and soul of it all, is a small group of ultra active people, people who have held government positions, people who have ran a military larger than Israel’s entire population, people who have been in the trenches and done whatever they could to help. But of course, the opposition is stronger than that small group by numbers alone.

I can also say with certainty that if I am not elected in this race, I will leave. Not the country for I have said in the past, Israel is my home. I will die and decay within these regions of the world that no one cares about. After a year and a half in this game, more than 6 months served in Israel, five months in Knesset, two months as President, building two countries militaries… if you all decided to spit in my face like you did Sadeh’s, well, you can all figure out a way to survive without any type of real leadership. I am not going to go back to 2-clicking after all I have accomplished, and I am sure as hell not going to move to another country and start all over again. If the Israeli public hates this country's “founding fathers” so much, then my time in Erepublik will end there.

I can also say that I truly and utterly despise a few people in this country, not because I had pre-conceived notions of them, but because they have shown they are as skilled and knowledgeable as ants under a magnifying glass. I have also tasted bitter betrayal from long time friends while in this country and felt great disappointment from people who promise to do so much, and fail at even lasting a week. Sometimes I wonder if a single one of you is grateful for the country you live in. Sometimes I wonder if anyone actually realizes how lucky we were to have people like Sadeh and I to run things because it sure as hell wasn’t/isn’t easy.

Israel has a 90% inactive, uninterested, and 2-clicking population, and no one has initiative to do anything about it either. Let me ask, how many of you have created a Facebook or Myspace page to encourage new citizens to join Erepublik? Anyone have a Twitter page? How about someone writing a letter to a website admin about Erepublik? Of course not, people like Justin Moore have more fun demonizing the countries leaders because they hold contempt for a life they will never obtain. People like Franz Kafka come in and “revolutionize” the most united party in the country and destroy a system which was working perfectly fine and succeed in doing nothing undoing both things.

So there you have it Israel. I begrudgingly will be running for President of this utterly screwed up country. I hate to say this, but in all reality, I am your only hope of actually continuing to somewhat succeed in this world. Take it or leave it. I am sure as hell not happy about it, I am not going to pander for votes by compromising who I am or my own ideals, but I will do it because unlike some people, I have invested everything I have in this country, and I actually want to see positive things occur here.

The choice is yours Israel. I will now await the flood of IWP and Likud hate which is sure to come.

Your very angry President,
