My Retirement from the Senate

Day 731, 10:51 Published in Australia Australia by Newt Gingrich

Mr. Speaker, Deputy Speaker, Fellow Senators, Cabinet and People of eAustralia:

It is with the hardest of hearts that I hereby announce my retirement from the eAustralian Senate. Many of you may have heard either from others or myself that I planned on retiring and now I am making it official. I came to the senate 6 months ago in hopes of making eAustralia a better place and I feel that over these past 6 months it is a better place then when I found it. I have, over theses many months, seen the best of eAustralia and some of her worst; from unfortunate scandals and thefts to WWIII and the return of all of her regions. It has been an honor and a privilege to serve with all of you and the people of eAustralia.

I have made many friends during my time here and will continue to do so. I will not be retiring from all of government life; I will continue to serve in the Cabinet and serve our fair nation in that and many other aspects. I leave you now at the end of this term feeling that what we have done here is generally good. My resignation and retirement will be effective election day, when the new senators for the next term are chosen. I leave you all with the challenge of continuing to make eAustralia a better place as I have tried to do. With that being said, God bless each one of you and may God bless eAustralia.

Sincerely for the last time,

Newt Gingrich, Senator for Queensland
& Minister of Foreign Affairs
