My Resignation from Libertas & The Government

Dear citizens of eNetherlands,
As of today, I resign from Libertas NL (member & congressman) and the government (recruit). I will continue my political life as an independent congressman for now. I will talk about the reasons briefly.
1) I will not turn my back to the fact that our lands are under occupation. Also, I will not act like there is nothing wrong with it by saying things like "At least they pay us the taxes ^-^" or "Oh man, some of ePolish tanks fought for us against eNorway🙂
)".
2) I will not be fighting in the north anymore. I will only defend my country if it comes to that point. While our armies head for the north, I will stand behind and do my best to end the ePolish occupation.
3) This is a call for free people of free eNetherlands. ePoland is an enemy, not a friend. Let's kick them out.
Long live free eNetherlands.

You seems to not understand that being free even if we manage to do so won't last very long. Poland is 10 times stronger then we are and just fighting to be free just won't work. We did that before and had no regions about 2 years. Now with this deal at least we have regions, at least we have congress and we have income.

@TheValeyard I know that but it won't last very long this way either. eIreland is a good example if eNL wants to act like an imperialistic country. Not this way. Thanks though.
@Transvaal If you wish to know my votes in past proposes and how I acted, let me know. Otherwise don't throw dirt on me.
I do not believe Transvaal is throwing dirt, what you did is kinda fair criticism seeing you left your party only a few days after congress elections. It is unfair towards your party and the people who voted for your party.
Our current deal with Poland is working just fine, we're building relations with Poland and relations are stable. In the past Brazil and eSouth-Africa where moral enemies for the first few years of erepublik but they turned it around and became best friends. I am hopefully we could do something similar with eNL and Poland.
Yes it sounds unfair but I will follow majority as I did in my last term in congress. You said "Our current deal with Poland". 'Our' means 'state' and I'm not supporting state's actions. I think I'm free to do so. I meant no offense with any of my words.
No "Our" means our entire congress of which you are a part.
I appreciate your stand on this issue, and deep down I feel the same. However, having learned a little history re our country in the game, Taking on the occupying power which is much larger then us is "national suicide".

I enjoy having fun. That requires us to make a treaty with Poland. If you really want to fight forever, join Canada. They have the same policy and they like being wiped.

I believe almost everyone in NL understands and would prefer in a perfect world that we could have all of our own regions back, however, there are also many that understand that as Matthe Eby said above, it would essentially be "nationally suicide." We would have extended periods of being wiped with only a few days of gaining back a single region and hoping that maybe one day PL would get bored of it which isn't likely seeing as West NL has the oil they're after. It basically comes down to differing viewpoints between those who, while they prefer having all our own regions, are OK with at least being able to have a congress and to have some regions and to have the opportunity to get new players with the treaty we have in place, and those who are willing to risk long periods of being wiped because of a patriotic obligation they have. If I'm honest, at this point I feel that the treaty has a lot more to offer us as a country compared to not having it. Anyways, those are just my thoughts on the situation.

It may be hard to understand the reasoning behind it, but this was the best possible outcome.
I was a staunch opponent of any negotiation with PL when they first invaded us, and we had some nearly successful attempts to regain regions. As a result, Poland took every single region and kept us occupied for many months. This meant no congress and caused the largest dip in community activity.
I recognized this mistake upon making my AI'tje, and supported MaartenW in making a deal with them. Compared to a year ago, our community is much more active and people can enjoy all aspects of the game again. I prefer the best possible outcome for the community over any feeling of personal pride or urge for retaliation. If our community grows, who knows what can happen in the future.
