My Re-Election Presentation

Day 520, 01:40 Published in Germany United Kingdom by Elisa Vorimberg

Dear Citizens of Germany(-Austria)

I have decided to run for re-election for congress in Saxony.

First off, let me be clear: I will not tell you to vote for me, nor will I even refer to my competition. This article will only talk about my plans, my ideas, and my actions. It is your job as a voter to decide who is best to represent you in congress.

Here is my previous election presentation: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/my-candidacy-for-congress--758913/1/20

Now for my current presentation:

Why I am Running for Re-Election:
My reasoning for wanting to be in congress remains unchanged from last month: I want to make a difference in Germany’s government and represent the people and their interests.
However, anybody that has followed my newspaper at all will know that I did not uphold my promise to ask the citizen’s opinion on some laws. For that I am extremely sorry. It was an issue of practicality. With so many foreigners trying to spread propaganda and confusion in your media I decided it would be a very bad idea. Perhaps that was a bad judgment call on my part, I don’t know for sure. But I know that I have done my best, if there is one thing I have learned from my first term in congress is that there are no easy decisions.
Another concern is that I posted an article saying how bad conditions were in Germany and said that I wanted to leave Germany, but only stayed because of an obligation to those who voted me into congress and an obligation to not abandon Germany in it’s time of need. That was written about the same time as when I owned the only company offering no 0-skill jobs in all of Germany, and I was only doing that as a charity to help Germany. Times then were unbearable and I regret considering leaving. However it is important to point out that 8 congress members actually did abandon their obligations this term. I am proud that I didn’t leave, and now the economy has stabilized quite a bit since then so I intend to stay in Germany for the foreseeable future.

Economic Policy:
My economic policy remains unchange😛
I believe that a good economy is all about the average/new worker. Here are 3 main ideas that I will work towards if I am elected.

Competition- Competition among businesses is the founding principal of capitalism (which is very much what we have here). In order for businesses to be successful they must be able to compete with other people’s wages and market prices. There are always a few companies that try to offer minimum wage and try to sell their products at a very expensive price. Luckily, there are other companies that offer higher wages and cheaper prices. Those companies will have success and will be rewarded. That is what will make life easier for workers. Your employer has to keep a high salary or you will quit and go to another company. The companies that you buy from must keep prices cheap or you won’t buy from them.
Increasing the competitiveness of our market will make life easier for you.

Favorable Balance of Trade- This is a very old Mercantilist idea. Every item that is produced here and sold somewhere else represents a net gain for our economy. Our goods are being shipped elsewhere, where they then give us money. So in the en😛
Our workers get paid, another country gets an item, and our companies get paid. That means that the value of that item has been taken from the other country’s economy and put into ours. Over time this will build up into a massive gain for our economy.

Health- Many q3 and q4 companies have been hiring new skill-0 workers at salaries far too low to support q3 or q4 food. I have gotten desperate messages from many citizens on the brink of starvation through my wellness initiative: http://www.erepublik.com/en/article/free-food-for-those-in-need-1-778549/1/20, and every single one of them was working for one of those companies. While I do believe that companies should have freedoms, the instant that they abuse them and start killing our new citizens I draw the line. I think that the only way to really combat this is either to raise minimum wage, or add information about how higher quality companies affect wellness into the new citizen message. I would prefer the latter and that will be one of my main goals if I am elected.

Update: The new citizen message is likely to be changed soon, it will include the necessary information and I am very proud that we are now on the right track with it.

Foreign Policy:
During my last term I was appointed the German ambassador to Brazil. From this I have gained a new understanding of how PEACE nations view our decision to join ATLANTIS.
We have a lot of work to do to regain the trust of all other countries. But I certainly think that it is possible and it will be an important subject to consider in all the decisions I make in congress.

Concluding Statements:
I realize that my first term in congress was not perfect. I was one of the youngest congress-members (in erepublik age). But I am also one of the most active. I have participated in almost all of the discussions in congress. I have learned a LOT and I now consider myself more experienced than a great deal of them.
I really want the chance to continue serving Germany.
Now I leave you to make your decision.
