My Plan and Platform: Enoch Root for President of South Africa

Day 711, 10:55 Published in South Africa South Africa by Enoch Root

I figured it was about time for me to get my platform out to everyone. Maybe this can clear up some misconceptions about what I would want to do with the country if I am elected.

I have big, ambitious plans. I'm not gonna lie, there's a lot I want to do, and I'll need a lot of people to step up, and be active in the government to help get it done. It all starts with the recent events here, this whole big deal about possibly losing our neutrality. Let's look at what the outcomes are:

1) We end up joining EDEN
2) We end up being neutral, but EDEN RWs the other regions back anyways.
3) We end up being neutral, and EDEN does not RW the regions back to us.

Whatever happens, the plans are still valid, they just become more and more important in cases 1 and 2.

To start with, my number one priority will be setting the foundations for, and the starting of, a babyboom. This may not mean several thousand people, like in other, bigger nations. It may be only a few hundred. A few hundred will help to accomplish the goals behind the babyboom, though, which is filling all the new regions.

In case 3, we only have 2 new regions to fill. In cases 1 and 2, we will likely have 8 regions, 6 of them without South Africans. This is why this plan is so much more important in cases 1 and 2.

Well, how do we start a babyboom? We get people committed to doing this. I will create a new Ministry of Recruitment. This Ministry's sole purpose will be to gather players that will advertise eSA not only to other nations, but in several RL mediums as well.

See that Twitter button? We need to use that! The Facebook button? I want to see eSA plastered all over Facebook. I wonder how many of you have ever used the "share this" thing at the bottom of the page. That's our ticket to this babyboom.

For this Ministry, I want people keeping up with whichever of those sites turn out to be a good medium to advertise eSA. Submitting links/articles to these mediums, including any gaming forums or similar things, will be the main goal of this Ministry, but they will also have to find things to submit, and help keep the MoInfo informed of the situation so that they can promote the submitted links/articles to the public. This could potentially be a large Ministry due to this, which I think is only a good thing. It promotes activity, which is something else we need to work on.

While this Ministry is getting ready preparing to hit the RL with eSA, we have to be preparing for the people that will come. They will need to be educated, informed, taught, and directed. For this reason I would see the Ministry of Social Affairs expanded. A new sub - Ministry of Education, working under MoSA will be in charge of this.

While it is currently the MoSA's job to handle education, I would rather have an entirely separate person, or even two, who's job it will be keep informative articles in the media everyday. Everyday I want highly visible, easy to find articles in the media, directing noobs to the eSAHC, to Mentorships, to the Forums, to IRC, ect. If we put so much work into getting noobs here, we need to keep them here.

We will need to be ready on the Economic front as well. Gold should be ready to make new food companies to feed the noobs. We will need places for them to work. If necessary, we can encourage imports of food, possibly even discuss lowering the import tax on food if it turns out to be too much of a strain on our markets.

The Ministry of Information will be essential in this entire operation. The thing about most of these external sites is that they need the submissions to be voted up. Obviously, the bulk of votes will have to come from us. One of the tasks of the MoInfo will be to promote new submissions in these sites for eSA to vote up. Of course, this generally requires users to be signed up to these sites. Promoting this, and getting people to do it will be another part of the job. We will need massive voting campaigns to get the word out to the real world. No one is going to sign up to a game where no one votes up the article, or link, or whatever. We will need all of South Africa to help make this babyboom possible. If it takes articles, ads, PMs, forum posts, whatever, so be it. We need to be able to get the word out.

Mentorship will have to be revamped, renewed, and reworked. We have yet to get a real, successful Mentorship program in place. I want to make this a program that is successful and productive. It's going to be very important to eSA as a whole to have well informed citizens. One of the other problems with this program has been actually getting noobs to sign up to it. We should go to them, not make them come to us. This can be done in several ways, and I would want to place it under the Minister of Social Affairs, so that they can pick the right person to head this part of the Ministry up, and work with them on getting the message out to the noobs.

Under the Ministry of Intelligence, I would want a new position that will promote government accountability. As I stated in the MoInfo's interview:

"I want my gov't to be extra accountable. I want people checking up on every gov't official, and people checking up on the people checking up on them. Everyone has to be accountable here."

I want to have someone that's simply going to monitor your Government Officials. If your Minister of Finance has been funneling funds away from the Government, you would want to know as soon as possible, so that it can be stopped, right? That's what this will be designed to prevent. Corruption under my Administration will be completely unacceptable, I will not stand for it.

For further activity, more options in government jobs, and so that we can teach more people about the ways of running a government, I would want to see Deputy Ministers in every Ministry. We simply cannot have Ministries going inactive and their jobs not getting done. The bulk of what a Deputy is required for is to be there in case something happens to the Minister. The means learning all about the job, and actually doing some of it. Ministers will have less work, more people will be involved, learning about what goes on. As a Minister myself, I can relate to this.

This plan for a babyboom is something I want to do, no matter the outcome of the elections. That's why I have put this out in the public for everyone to see already. I want this to happen for eSA. I want it to happen right. No one wants to see us have a boom, only to see it crash right before our eyes.

That's my plan, now on to policy:

The biggest question out there now is how to handle the situation with EDEN. I personally want a Neutral eSA. I have argued this point, and argued it. Nonetheless, if eSA decides that EDEN is what they want, by referendum, then that is the route I will take. But, as I said on the forums, if we take that route, we have to be prepared for it.

"Whichever way we decide, we had better stick to it, and go full in on it. No half-a**ing around. If we are to accept EDEN and join them, you better bet we will be active in that alliance, and make it as strong as can be so that we get the most out of it."

Whichever path we take, I am prepared to lead eSA on it.

As far as getting more regions, we will have to see how the situation stands over the next few days. I would like to promise more regions, I would like to promise to help restore eSA to it's entirety, but the large majority of if this will be possible or not depends, for the most part, on what happens over the next few days. I will not close eSA off to any potential avenue to restoration, but I will not make any rash decisions on what to do unless I am 100% sure we are doing the right thing. I will only follow the wishes of eSA in what route we take as a nation regarding this.

Our continued membership and activity in Sol in a given in my Administration.

I am a fan of an active Military. An active Military is an excellent way to keep people interested, help out our friends and allies, strengthen eSA, and to prepare if we are ever to have to go to war. Military recruitment is essential, and for this I would hope to see the MoD working with the MoInfo on getting the message out to the people to sign up to the Military. Having an available and efficient Military is something I would want to expect.

Besides the fact that Oceanus would be my Vice President, I'm not going to release any of my Cabinet until after the elections, but as you can see it's going to be pretty expanded. If you wish to contact me about possibly working as a Minister, I'm open to anyone if they are fit for the job. I don't care about Party lines, about where you came from, ect. I just care that the job gets done right, and efficiently. I want to be able to hit the ground running if I am elected, and so I want to have all of my Ministerial positions filled by then. Please contact me if you are interested in working in certain Ministries.

This is, for the most part, what I want to do as President. I'm sure I've left out a few things, and I'm sure there is more that I meant to say.

I ask for your vote in the elections coming up so that I can put my Plan in action.
I ask for your vote in the elections so that I can help us grow as a nation.
I ask for your vote, to elect me as the next President of South Africa.

Thank you for reading, if you made it this far 😉

Rest in Peace, Philip Francis Exavier Esquire.
