My Iron Lung lasted 12 days, not 10 this time

Day 943, 00:49 Published in Canada Canada by Etemenanki

So it’s been a couple days more than ten since the last article I wrote, but my apologies to you all as I was busy on Friday with my 7th anniversary. I am sure most of you can understand if I say that my fiancé is more important to me than this game. Anyways, beyond that, it has been sort of quiet within congress, though closed congress has had its moments, as those of you who have read some of the conflict between Dade and AR1ARX can gather. That is so not something I am interested in rehashing though, as I believe it is a stain upon both of these respectable fellows that it even happened. So on to the voting.

My Votes.

😎 Tax change: Food import to 60%? Voted Yes. Motion Passed.

9) Tax change: Weapon import to 60%? Voted Yes. Motion Passed.

10) Tax change: Gift import to 60%? All three of these votes were triggered by a motion brought forward by congressman AR1ARX near the beginning of this session. The general crux of the motion was to help keep eCanada’s wealth within Canada, instead of allowing it to be shipped out the country. Canada is a mature country, quite capable of taking care of its own needs. The hope with this motion is that we will strengthen the companies within Canada cutting back any outside competition, allowing those companies to return a little bit more wealth to the average Canadian. I talked about this motion in my last ten day article, and you can feel free to go read it there, or within the open congressional forums. Voted Yes. Motion Passed.

11) Do you agree to transfer 25000 CAD from the country accounts to Revenue Canada? The standard shuffle of money which takes place every couple of days within Canada. We must keep the machine operating, and within this valuable oil, the entire government would quickly grind to a halt. Voted Yes. Motion Passed.

12) Tax change: Diamonds 11% to 15%? The concept here is that the Diamond industry is so red hot that it is holding back the wood and oil sectors. Diamonds are driving up wages within all of the various land sectors, and hopefully with this motion we will ease some of the pressure that has been put on those other land sectors, only time will ultimately tell if this change was enough or too much. Voted Yes. Motion Passed.

13) President of Romania proposed a mutual protection pact with Canada? Romania, one of our oldest allies, and a vote that comes up once a month barring unusual circumstances. Any particular reason we wouldn’t want to have a MPP with them? None that I can think of. Voted Yes. Motion Passed.

14) President Impeachment? Yet another impeachment vote that was out of no where, and came for no particular reason that I could see. Sure, Canada was facing some serious problems due to the loss of a large amount of money and some weapons, but to move to seeking an impeachment after only a few days, especially when the Prime Minister and his staff came forward and informed the people of the crime? I would have voted no, even if I had not been obliged to do so due to the regulations of congress demanding so due to procedural regulation. Voted No. Motion Failed.

15) President of Canada proposed a mutual protection pact with Slovakia? This is one of those ones I am not really sure what was going on about. I have heard there is controversy surrounding this particular MPP but I am not really sure why that would be the case. In my mind, barring severe financial problems we should have alliances with as many countries are willing. Perhaps when AR1ARX comments he can specify what the problems with this particular MPP were. Voted Yes. Motion Passed.

16) Do you agree to transfer 19000 CAD from the country accounts to Revenue Canada? Another one of those oiling the wheel motions, I told you they come around fairly often. Voted Yes. Motion Passed.

17) Do you agree with the proposal to issue 70000 CAD for 350 GOLD? This is the best way to get money back into the Canadian economy. Ultimately in the end, it only costs us a small amount of gold to create this CAD, giving us a lot of bang for our buck and ultimately injecting currency into the market when it is needed to help prevent stagnation or inflation. Voted Yes. Motion Passed.

Congress

Early this week the Prime Minister put forward a serious of names that he wished to advance for the position of Supreme Court judges as many of them have come to term and are in need of being replaced. I was quite eager to begin this particular discussion as the Supreme court of any country is an immensely important part of any properly functioning government. While I am aware that many people view our Supreme Court as not functioning properly, or simply a waste of time, I as a congressman simply cannot view it as such, as much of what I do in the day to day minutia takes place on the forums, which are of course the sole domain of the Supreme Court. It probably also helps that I am a big believer in the rule of law as well. Unfortunately it was quickly pointed out that the names that were advanced were all members or related to one party, and were as such invalid since no party is capable of having more than two representatives upon the Bench. As such, the entire process is on hold while we await the advancement of some more names. In a related topic, congress has also approved the appointment of former Supreme Court judge Olivermellors to the position of attorney general, I myself did also approve his appointment after speaking personally with him in private message.

The second aspect to congressman AR1ARX's plan to improve the economics within Canada has now been brought up in open congress, and we are currently in the process of debate regarding it. The general concept of the second phase of this plan is the creation of a regulatory body, The Competition Bureau, within eCanada that will be responsible for monitoring the prices of goods and materials within Canada and see that they do not to radically fluctuate, and use the power of the media to pressure companies into altering their prices to something more approaching a reasonable rate. Should such an action fail, the bureau would be responsible for holding a reverse auction in which it attempts to help a company expand further upwards into the market, moving from a lower level quality company to one rung higher decreasing production in one tier and hoping to increase competition within the newest tier. Currently much of the discussion that is going on at the moment is in regards to the functions of Crown Corporations and their impact upon the Canadian market.

Much thanks must also go out to Coda who was kind enough to stop by and provide congress with some information in regards to how tanking has been done and is currently being done within Canada. It is a quite detailed thread and has much useful information, and is even more welcome as it was not sparked by any controversy or motion by congress that I am aware of and was done simply to provide some useful information.

Other Stuff

Plenty of stuff going on at the moment within eCanada. As I am sure every single person is aware 1ronman has been accused of the massive theft of CAD and guns from the Canadian government. As much as I would like to join every single other person within Canada in hoisting up a torch and burning him alive for the crime, we must remember that at this point he simply has been accused of the theft, and has not been found guilty. Personally as far as I can tell, the evidence seems to be overwhelming and 1ronman has provided little to no reason to believe that he is not guilty of the crime.

On a happier note, it seems that the CAF has seen fit to promote me even further, providing me with the rank of Major, putting me in charge of the entire second division of the reserves. I look forward to working with everyone within the second division to improve and grow it.

I will also once more be running for congress on the 25th, though am unsure yet if it will be within Ontario once again. I should know in a day or two once EPIC works everything out. Until then,

Major Congressman etemenanki, Minister of Immigration.
