My Candidacy for the Congressional Seat in New Mexico

Day 550, 02:12 Published in USA USA by Seth Ford
Introduction

Hello, my name is Seth Ford, and I humbly hope that you will let me represent the great state of New Mexico for the May, 2009. I realize that I am running against the Party President of the Libertarian Party. I have no doubt that she has faithfully represented her party, and the great state of New Mexico, but she is currently holding two positions. If you elect me as representative for New Mexico, I promise to dedicate myself to this great state. I am only a month-old in eRepublik. If you elect me to Congress, I hope I can transform new players into active eUSA players. We need more of the same guidance and courtesy to new players that I have so graciously received during my short elife. Obviously, many of you do not yet know me. Let me start to remedy that situation.

Background

I am actively training in the National Guard Second Division, 13th platoon. I fought courageously in the Far Eastern Region during the battle of day 541. I am a regular participant in our nation’s war games, and I have actively participated in the defense of Germany from Sweden until I received orders from my commanding officer in the eGuard to refrain from participating in that conflict.

Political Philosophy

I tend to believe that eRepublik provides a poor venue for the replication of the real life political divides between the left and right. My hope would be to work with all parties in Congress for the best interests of New Mexico. Yes, that includes the USWP members. Many of those that I have had the pleasure to meet are thoughtful, sincere individuals who desire to strengthen the eUSA just like the rest of us. I value cooperation over partisan politics. I also believe that anyone who desires to represent you in Congress must seriously commit themselves to that task. In that vein, if I am elected, I promise to offer no Congressional proposal just for the “lulz.”

Foreign Policy

Without a doubt, these are perilous times for the eUSA. The PEACE victory over eRomania, the collapse of ATLANTIS, the Swedish and Polish invasion of Germany constitute troublesome tidings for our enation. In response to these events, I support President Scrabman’s declaration of neutrality. While I would certainly prefer to see the administration officially pursue the defense of Germany against Swedish aggression, I do understand the administration’s position. We need to conserve our resources after the battle over the Far Eastern Region, and it would be prudent to keep a wary eye on PEACE. Personally, I would choose to defend Germany against Sweden through our MPP, but I understand the administration has to keep its eye on the big picture. That being said, I would ask that the administration not make peace with Sweden until it ceases its acts of aggression in Germany. I also praise those Congressmen and women who were brave enough to vote against the recent peace proposal to Sweden. We may not be able to expend our precious public resources on the German-Swedish conflict because of PEACE, but our enation can only benefit from our citizens’ courageous attempts to fight in defense of German freedom.

Conclusion

I will end now before I bury you under an even greater wall of text. If you wish to hear my stance on any other position, please comment on this article or PM me. I will respond promptly. If I receive a good deal of similar questions, I will post my response in this paper. Thank you for your attention citizens of New Mexico, and please remember to vote for me on Election Day!
