mulderpf: Party Presidency Platform

Day 813, 22:16 Published in South Africa South Africa by mulderpf
Herewith my platform for candidacy of the Party President of the Independent Alternative:

It is obvious that the Independent Alternative is not the small party it used to be. One of the strengths of the party is that it's a whole bunch of individuals with their own ideas and philosophies that have come together to unite under the "no bullshit" banner. No matter what your background, we welcome you.

Our strength in unity can also easily be the cause of a breakdown in the survival of the party as we all have different ideas. In order to be sustainable into the future, we need to be exceptionally organised and have a leader with a clear vision and goals in mind. By setting and focusing on clear goals, the party can look to the future with the knowledge that the groundwork has been set for a growing and successful party.

There are a few key areas I would like to focus on and these will also help me set my goals:

Activity levels

The activity levels of some of our members are already high compared to other parties. Most of us are involved in government and other government initiatives. I would like to keep it this way and see that IA congressmembers remain active. We need to come up with drives to ensure that our activity in congress and government remains high. I do not want to go too much into detail here and these plans will only be made public if I am elected.

Party visibility

The IA brand is getting stronger and stronger, but I feel that we lack media coverage. The past month has been generally quiet for most parties, but I feel that more can be done to make the party more visible. I will achieve this in two ways - the first being more advertising. My advertising drive will not focus on the here and now, but instead, building a strong brand for the future. My advertising drives will be personally funded if I am elected.

In addition, I want to publish more articles that focus on the IA - at least 3 a week. These articles will focus mainly on the IA and help us with projecting a positive image to the rest of the world.

Increase in membership

We need to be a party that welcomes old and new players. Older, more experienced players seem to feel very welcome in the party. Retention of these people are key to the sustainability of the party as they have a wealth of knowledge to share. But, it doesn't help having this wealth of knowledge to share, if we have nobody to share it with. We need to focus on increasing our membership as well. This will be achieved not only by being much more visible, but also other drives to specifically get citizens on-board who are not part of any parties.

Coaching and development

We all have our own ambitions and we need to develop this fully. In order to also be a more welcoming party for younger citizens, we need to provide them with the opportunities to fulfill their ambitions, specifically on the political front.

I would like to identify candidates for congress, party presidency and country presidency early on. Even if they are not ready for this term, giving someone a goal, will keep them motivated.

Inter-party relations

I believe we have fairly good relationships with most parties and I would like to build on this and work on the areas and parties that need more attention. Being a party of very different individuals, means that we should be one of the parties that will have something in common with most other parties. I'd like to see some synergy between the parties to take eSA to the next level. For me it's all about unity between the parties rather than each to their own. It's been proven in the past that parties that work together are much stronger than parties who want to exist in isolation.

Party community

We need to focus more on our party members. I would personally like to know more about the people in our party and I'm sure so would you. This would integrate with my party visibility campaign by means of articles about our members.

Summary

All this seems like it would need a heck of a lot of organising and that we'll end up losing our "no bullshit" approach to politics if we have all this going on. I say, not true. Look at how well Remon managed to get things organised and done and we never lost the "no bullshit" feeling of the party. Our motto shouldn't be an excuse for laziness or for being disorganised. I believe we can be a highly organised party, but still keep the bullshit out.

These initiatives are here to build a solid base for the future of the party. By putting the right measures and infrastructure in place now, we can ensure a successful future for the IA.

Vote for me on the 15th!!!
