Mr. NFRonny goes to Brussels (IV)

Day 1,288, 11:00 Published in Belgium Belgium by NicknameFromRonny

Hello all,

days passed, and stuff changed. Time to put the finger on the pulse of eBelgium.

MPPs

To please a certain part of my readers. Yes, I’m talking to you, Thomas Keesman.

Let me first update you on the battlefields of our MPPs, where our noble horses ride along those of our friends from Venezuela, Hungary and Macedonia in a quest for freedom and XP.

The Venezuelan territory has been restored by a victory in the RW for North Eastern Venezuela, and in the regular war, Guayana was sieged and conquered. Due to the auto-attack, the advantage is to our South-American friends in their fight with Portugal.
Hungary, on its turn, was the victor in the campaign for Oltenia, which meant the last straw for the Romanians. After wiping their sworn enemies of the map, they redirected their arrows on the small nation of Austria. After capturing Burgenland previously, Styria seems to fall quickly. This attack must be placed in the ONEhunt for Czechoslovakia.
Last but not least, we can participate in the final day of MPPing with Macedonia in a war with Greece. They conquered the Peloponnese and Ha’il since my last article, and if they take over Upper Egypt as well (scoreline 4-0 atm), this will be the eleventh victory in succession. A remarkable result, indeed.

MPP with eTurkey

The proof that I do support Belgian-Turkish cooperation sometimes.

As you might have noticed, there has been an MPPproposal by anilkoc. Although we have no negative feelings towards Turkey, (I would even say, on the contrary) we can not accept that MPP. That is mainly due to financial circumstances that will not allow us to have more MPPs. Our MoFA, Fhaemita Malodorous, had mentioned this to his Turkish counterpart, but something must have gone wrong in the Turkish administration. Therefore the votes are 6 against 16 at the moment, which means the MPP will not continue.
My view: Despite being a possible good MPP, I have voted against it because there was no such agreement between our governments. I do hope that the good relations with the Turkish can be held (even after the football game of Friday) and that these talks may even open prospects in the future.

Presidential elections

Mitteke goes for the double!

Indeed, my article of two days ago with a nice but long comparison between Chris Stanwick and Touchdown Thomas can be thrown to the trashcan. From a dilemma, the battle has opened up to a quatrilemma. If such a word exist.
Current Glorious Empress Mittekemuis has put up her manifesto to ask for your vote for a second term. Your voting ticket will even have a fourth dot to colour, since Jofroi entered his signature. This experienced lad do announces that he only runs to became vice-president, and in that position, he hopes he will never have to step up.
My view: I will be honest, I’m biased to the bone. Not only do I warmly appreciate Mitteke on a personal level, during my month under her command, she left an excellent impression as a fair and caring mother to all her eBelgian children. With this month of experience as a reference, I think she is top favourite. But every race needs to be run, so I’ll provide you a comparative view later this week. If I feel like it. On Jof: you’re one strange dude, but we do appreciate it. Jof for VP!

Congress Gold

Yep, that’s the first Google Image hit on the word “gold”.

The count is on 22 congressmembers from this months round of charity. A lower amount then usual, and that could have to do something with the current round of commotion on the BAF. About which more, later.
My view: Still paid with pleasure. You don’t go for congressmen for your own good, nor as a reward for previous work, especially not in a nation as eBelgium.

Government reform

eBelgium at least has a government, so owns RL.

After some contemplation, our Glorious Empress Mittekemuis has decided to relief Fabio86, former MoFA, and Chris Stanwick, former MoD, of their duties. Both accept the decision. Fhaemita Malodorous now promotes to MoFA, and the department of defence will rest on the shoulders of Glenn Wauters.
My view: Must have been a tough decision, which I respect. I had a good relationship with Fabio as our MoFA, so I regret his current absence, and I do not have a doubt that Chris still has governmental capacities. It is sad to see them go, but I trust Mittekemuis’ conclusion and I have faith in those who are responsible now.

Gold into BEF

And a bit more.

MoF Ward De Bever proposed to sell 25 Gold for 12450 BEF, which means a rate of 498 BEF/Gold, on the public market. The purpose is to, and I will quote the man himself, “increase the president's and Congress' options (can't eat gold).” By this, he meant that BEF is closer to the market, and can be used for RW’s, new player programs and a more effective army.
So what, you might say, but it stands for an interesting debate. On one side, people don’t feel the need to increase the reserve (“if we can’t win after 4 RWs, we can’t win after 10”) and say we can print as much as we want in case of an emergency, others point to how this is cheaper then printing BEF and that it’s better then having to count on gifts in crisis times. The vote is in the balance, with seven times a “yes”, and seven times a “no”.
My view: A tough decision. Before deciding, I checked our national reserves, and I must say there is plenty of both currencies. And the monetary market, where the offer on a 498 exchange rate would be on the bottom of the list. I don’t see no harm in it, because it does not mean the money is leaving the Belgian hands and it is cheaper then printing it. But on the other hand, I don’t see the need either. In dubio between a “yes” and an “abstain”.

BAF budget increase

I don’t even understand what you’re looking at, but it looks pretty sweet.

Rumours are going around about the budget of the BAF being increased above the current level of 7K BEF. Some numbers such as 50K and 100K are going around. Although there is a strong debate going on about new ways of funding our national armed forces, the numbers stated above have been shown to be part of a piece of tomfoolery.
Shadowukcs asked the BAF if they would use their soldier-CMs to vote such a funding proposal but this has been denied in all languages. He also claims, showing IRClogs, that MoF Ward De Bever is in favour of a rise to 50K.
My view: First of all, I want to say (as BAF/congressmember) that a) my military reporting superiors would never seriously ask me to vote for or against this or that proposal b) that IF it would happen, I would refuse.
Secondly, I can testify that the numbers mentioned in the first lines were part of some joking around since I joined that round of fun. (If you were there, it was a good laugh. But silly to explain, but its like Garfieldjokes. When you missed the bigger drawing, it’s not the same.)
Anyways, I do not think that any BAFraise would go without a clear and strong new methodology of funding the soldiers. Especially for Ward, who has a platonic relationship with economic accounts. When there comes a plan on the table, I’ll take a deep look into it. And then we’ll see.

France NE proposal

A French minority. Most are pretty cool and relaxed, in fact.

X le variable, French congress member, has put up a vote to make Belgium their Natural Enemy. The current vote is 9 against 8.
My view: Not much to worry about here, especially since the vote needs a 2/3th majority. A part of the French population is desperately searching for a NE, but most have no harm against their Belgian neighbour. They have 4 rejected NEproposals, so the heat may be turned up a little, but knowing they voted 13-21 against one week ago, I have faith in the majority of French congress to avoid any hostilities between our nations.
