Mr. Brodie for UKRP Party President

Day 630, 06:13 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by mr. brodie
Vote Mr. Brodie for UKRP Party President

I, mr. brodie, am announcing my candidacy for the United Kingdom Reform Party

As you may or may not be aware, Party President Elections take place on the 15th of the month; at which time you get to decide the course of the party for a further month.

They might not seem like a big deal compared to the other elections but the result on that day strongly influences how we perform later. We need determination, commitment, communication, and influence – something which I can bring to this party. As soon as the new Party President is decided we need to work from the go, something which can arguably be questioned about this month. As soon as the day after the election comes, I will get down to work.

I’m not one to rely on personal merit to get elected. It’s not about what you’ve done; it’s about what you’re going to do; however I do think it’s important to have a certain extent of background knowledge on a candidate in order to make an informed decision.

I have a very good track record as a Party President, no matter which party it is. I’ve doubled membership in a range of parties (a few in the UK and a few abroad), I’ve got parties from the bottom position to above the other parties, increased congress numbers for consecutive elections, plus numerous other things. I was also UKRP PP previously, if that matters to any of you.

I have a great deal of experience working in all aspects of the game. Sure, I’ll admit that I’m not the greatest in each individual aspect (regarding Military, Politics and Economics), some people have individual things they’re great at, yet I’m one of those whose knowledge is spread across many bases. After all, being a Party President means you need to cope with multiple scenarios while being formal and keeping a cool head when it comes to debate, something which I feel I’m very good at.

I was in the House of Lords after being in congress over a dozen times, being a minister for multiple terms, having fought for my country and generally adding to the community.

Alright, so now down to business:

Back to Basics
This party has gradually been declining, for whatever reason. The party is divided and that’s obvious, not only to our members but to observers from other parties. Our reputation has been distorted and we’ve lost respect. Change needs to happen. Change will happen.

Debate is excellent for any party, it allows us to develop. I encourage people to get involved and question things, question people and question policies. Everybody deserves a say and they shouldn’t be shouted down. However, let’s try to keep this to the private sections, shall we? We need to show a united front in public, show that we are a unit and we support each other. If you disagree with a member then send them a PM. There’s no need to start arguments among members in public as it doesn’t show well on the party. Events like these do affect the party.

I would like to introduce an internal forfeit point system, as such. Basically this will allow us to monitor our members to make sure we don’t create even more negativity towards our party. Those who play a negative role towards our party will first be warned, twice; if they continue then punishments will be ensued. This can come in a range of forms, from losing congress candidacy rights, to public apologies (I’ll be pushing for this anyway, as we shouldn’t be offending each other), to paying a simple fine which can go towards party Ads.

Obviously, if you’ve argued your stance fairly, while keeping a cool head, then I will support you 100%. I’m not just here to tell members what to do, I’m here to support you and befriend you.

Nurturing
A major problem we have within PCP isn’t the lack of new members but it’s what we DO with those members. We used to have a “mentoring scheme” but it’s not been active for a good couple of months.

I will re-establish this, whether I personally have to teach 1 person or 10. The newest members are those that will help us in the future, we just have to educate them correctly. After all, we can’t all be playing this game forever and we’ll need somebody to takeover.

I’ll do this by finding out who’s willing to be a buddy and then organising them into different specialties; economics, military and politics. We can then ask the “newbie” which career he/she wants to take and then assign them to a matching buddy.

Organisation
Something we seem to lack is organisation. At the start of each week I will create a solid plan on what our goals are for this week, I will then sticky it into a thread on the forums for all to see.

This way we wont get overworked and muddled. Focusing on one thing at a time is easier than focusing on 5 things and doing them all poorly. By doing this we can work through the workload and be more organised, thus creating a better, stronger party.

Media Presence
Media is the most important factor in this game. To get across a message to the people has endless benefits. PCP used to be media giants, but once again we’ve been declining in the previous months.

We will write an article AT LEAST once a week, if not every 3 days allowing it to be on the top rated page (providing we get there to start with).These articles wont all be policy, we need fresh new articles, not just fluff.

I want to establish a media committee. The committee will be split into sections: Interviews, Policies, Manifestos and Fun.

Interviews;
We will release articles where we allow the public to get to know the people behind the party. After creating a set of questions which test the members, we will then get a different member to answer them, weekly. We can then post these into an article for everyone to see.

Policies;
We are a party of policies. We can’t expect to get support if we don’t provide our ideals. This is why I want to release 3 articles this month; Economic policy, Military policy and Social policy. Before trying to implement a new law/policy I want everybody to add input to it from the party, to avoid our members, or us looking stupid or leaving loopholes. The stronger policies we have, the better.

Manifestos;
Basically, I want EVERYBODY running to have a manifesto, whether it’s complex or not. This is why I’ll be providing support for anybody wishing to write one. I’ll check through them, giving advice and pointing out errors, etc. It’s also very likely that’ll I’ll write a basic one on the forums for candidates to expand on. We owe the voters the right to know who and what they are voting for.

Fun;
This is only a game. We don’t need to be seriously constantly. Some joke articles now and then will be good for us and the public.

Voting the articles up is also important, this is why I want to find out how many votes the forum members can provide using orgs and such. I can then easily PM our members with the latest articles to vote and it’ll hopefully allow us to get a top 5 spot.

Structure
I don’t feel that a strong leadership structure is that important; however teamwork is. I can give people positions and tell them what to do but it won’t mean it’ll happen. Teamwork is the key to running a party.

This is why I’ll allow people to suggest themselves for positions. I’ll be looking to have a Vice President, Head of Media, Wiki Committee Chairman, Electoral Committee Chairman, etc…

Elections
Unlike previous Country President Elections where people have suggested other people to run (on the forums), I’ll be taking suggestions for people in private; therefore people who might not be confident enough to announce their wish to run in public can still have a chance to have their name put forward.

We’ll be using the same selective method of an internal poll though – just to keep it democratic. We will be running a candidate this month and we need a hell of a lot better campaign than previous months.

I do have a plan for congressional elections, although I don’t want to disclose it in public for other parties to take. It’s not exactly a renovating idea, although I don’t believe that any other parties have successfully done it. Hopefully, if it works, we should be able to get a couple more congressmen.

Recruitment
Before we go around looking for new members, we need to get the current members on the forums. Sure, having lots of members is good, but having lots of members who add input is a lot better.

I’d much rather have a party of 100 active people than a party of 500 inactive people. By influencing people to join the party forums it provides numerous benefits: more workforce, more ideas, more candidates, more discussion, more communication and more fun.

My plan is basic. We’ll simply get each member of the party to message 2 pages of inactive party members. It may start slow, but as we gradually get more members, we’ll get more momentum. This is likely to be one of the very first things I start if elected.

Heck, we could even start a recruiting prize fund, to give an incentive to recruit people. Whoever has got the most members onto the forum by the end of the month will win a prize; let’s say 5 Gold funded from my own pocket. Fun, fun, fun.

Next we can aim for new members. Ads are important; they can influence a lot of players to the party. Look at the influence they’ve had on RFA membership – they’ve constantly got an Advert up. Other than this a PM campaign is always good, providing it isn’t immensely bias and/or offensive to others, as well as articles and debates.

So that’s basically it. I’m sure I’ve missed something important but I’ve went over most of the key issues. We need change and I can provide that change. Together we stand united under one banner, United Kingdom Reform Party.

I thank you, and wish the other contenders luck. This’ll be an interesting election for once,

and remember, vote Mr. Brodie.
