More than just a number

Day 501, 18:30 Published in USA USA by arbitorblade

I have noticed that in more and more things we the players of online games, are being numbered in more ways than one. That our handles we use online are being stripped off and replaced by numbers. Now this can be helpful when your trying to do certain things like get total amounts of people but let me reference something outside of this world. If anyone uses ventrilo or like a messenger program you have a username.

Groups you join can give you the ability to register your gamer handle so you can feel more at home. Now when you attach a number to someone and require them to put it in their username for said program it takes a bit of humanity out. Even the very position of a number can influance the person, you put the name first and it shows how you care about the person, put a number infront of a person and they feel like there not special, that whatever number they have is just what they are-a souless person playing a game without thought or emotion.

What I'm trying to say is this:

We humans are more than numbers, we have souls, emotions, spirits, and come from many different walks of life and paths. Have we become something that we do not want?
