Month Two: The Perfect Storm

I've anticipated writing this article for a while now. There's been a few moments in the last 2 weeks where I've wanted to write this earlier, but I restrained myself. For the legitimacy of the series, I figured it's best to actually separate each article with a month's time. There's a lot I want to speak on and how I've grown as a player since my first month. So, let's get into it.

The Perfect Storm

Why so? Why would I identify this second month as a perfect storm? Many different reasons that tie into one another. I'll go in chronological order for simplicity's sake.

Firstly, thank you to everyone in We The People who voted for me in the Congressional Primaries. I got 27 points (9-27 actual votes because of the voting system) and managed to place 3rd overall. I'm extremely appreciative of every single vote I got and the faith We The People placed in a relative nobody. More important than all the promises I made during my campaign article, I want to justify that decision to you, the people (hehe).

That being said, I do wish I had done a few things differently in my campaign article. Granted, most of the substance I could offer in that article were a bunch of intentions and express perspective. I have absolutely no experience. Even so, I do wish I had touched on some issues that I'm aware of.

Now's not the platform for doing that, though. If you would like to ask me a question regarding anything really, feel free to do so in the comments or as a personal message. If I get a few, I'll write an article responding to them.

The second reason I feel it's been a perfect storm is us being wiped when the congressional elections were taking place. If I have my facts correct, I believe we have to have a state from the 23rd at some time until the actual elections. Of course, in terms of the progress of the country, this is a negative. I'm speaking from a personal perspective though.

Honestly, while of course I'm very appreciate of the opportunity WTP has given me for allowing me to represent them in Congress, it's been a pretty intimidating experience thus far. After about two weeks of me playing eRep, I began educating myself on the Constitution, a few current global situations, some past presidencies in eUS, current legislature and any information I could get my hands on that I assumed relevant.

Since being in shadow Congress, I've learned one thing: I still don't know shit. One of the first issues that were being discussed when I entered Congress was USAF reforms. I knew the eUS had a few military units, but knew nothing of them exactly. I haven't even read the entire discussion yet, but at least 90% of what I have read, I don't have clue on.

I mean, I'm doing what I said I would be doing in my campaign article. I'm shutting the hell up and learning this month. Which brings me to why I said it was appropriate (for my personal situation/perspective) that we were wiped during the congressional elections. I don't feel like I'm a legitimate congressman. I was paying attention to the other candidates articles and read Hale's article on introducing the people who were running...

Plus, the former congressmen(/women?) who decided not to run. There were a lot of very legitimate candidates. I'm not trying to play the modest card (cause if you get to know me, I can be pretty arrogant at times... or so I've been told) when I say I don't think I would have voted for myself during the primaries. Not necessarily because of what I stated, just the whole experience element. So, again... For whatever reason you decided to vote for me, I thank you.

Bottom line is I don't feel I would have really earned that congressman award. Sure, I got the votes. But as of right now, I'm pretty inept relative to the other veteran members of congress. So I feel it played out perfectly for me. I get a month worth of inside experience and knowledge before I really get that award.

(Just saying though, idk if anyone's ever kept track, but I feel I gotta be up there with one the youngest people to enter congress. If anyone knows that random stat, let me know, I'm curious)

Conclusion

Moving on, I've already spoken on what I've learned within these first two points, and that pretty much wraps up the actual content of what I wanted to express in this article. I can imagine at least some people wondering why I would write so much about my negative qualities.

The fact is I've stated them in my congressional ad. I lack experience and the history for you to be able to judge my intentions. All I have are words. The reasons I'm writing this series is to A) track my progress and tell a story of a developing player's perspective on the game. And 😎 this is part of my campaigning strategy.

(^ unintentional smiley face, but I'm keeping it. It was supposed to read "And Bparenthesis this is...", but I like it. SO IT STAYS!!!!)

I cast my first vote which I'll be recording as well as any others I will cast during my first term. This series takes my theme of transparency to another level by letting you into my personal perspective and thoughts. I acknowledge my weaknesses in the areas of knowledge and experience, but I can't be much more transparent. If you'd like to ask me any question, feel free. I'm always open to answer them.

I like to end my articles by speaking on what's coming next. Real quick, I didn't write about the Unity primaries because I was busy. Also, I believe someone was added who I was unaware of. I also missed the debate on WTP earlier, which is kind of a bummer. However, I have heard that there may be two Unity candidates which is a very exciting prospect.

Also, I'm going to be writing on erepjobs and the voter's club the next time I get a few minutes free to do so. After the presidential elections, I'll definitely be writing a reaction article. And if I get the green flag to, I may speak on some discussions going on in Congress. No promises on that, I'm still feeling out the environment.

As I always top it off, if you got here, thank you very much for your time. This was a particularly vanilla article, but I feel it's a very important one. Until next time, have a good day y'all.
