Military vs. Political Modules - A Hands Down Winner

Day 2,075, 15:31 Published in Ireland Ireland by Death and Taxes

Hello everyone. Tonight we're getting back to normal and talking about stuff that's important. Stuff that affects everyone in eReublik. We're talking about this now because of recent changes in the military module. But before we get to this topic we need to deal with some basic facts.

Here's basic rule #1

Here's two toons from eRepublik. The first one is Niemand and the second one is me. I hope Niemand doesn't mind me using him as an example. Niemand is a far better player than I have ever been and ever will be. He's been playing 30 months more that I have, has probably seen everything there is to see in the game and he doesn't buy gold.

On the other hand, he has 50% of the strength I have, and does 50% of the damage even though he's level 69. On the battlefield, it's no contest. As I said, Niemand is the better player but when it comes to the military module eRepublik uses a great equalizer call gold buying to ensure that lazy bums like me can be better than Niemand, at least on the battlefield.

Of course, I should point out that this applies to an awful lot of players. We're all a bunch of lazy bums who don't have time to get powerful in a slow controlled way. But before we move on to the topic in question, we need to take into account this, and one other basic fact.

eRepublik is an inherently unfair game. If you have money and you want to spend it on the game, then for game purposes, you will be a better player in military terms than players that don't. Other games tend to reward players on #time spent gaming rather than #money spent. Please respect players who don't go down this route, and yes, that includes Kurgan.

Here's basic rule #2

In a complete reverse of the military module, the political module nullifies all the advantages that money brings to eRepublik. Unlike the military module, once you are high enough level in eRepublik you can go from joining a political party, starting a newspaper to promote your dogma, and then become a congressman to start legislating stuff. If you're smart, you'll keep your nose clean and get a good rep as an outstanding member of the community and perhaps become a party president, a minister of substance, and even country president.

All this can be done at no cost whatsoever.

Pertinently, if you think that tanks who buy gold as if there is no tomorrow are powerful, then take into account a player by the name of sawc. Purely by being nice, helpful to all who asked, always on IRC and assisting the government in doling out supplies and food giveaways, sawc rose from relative obscurity here to become an integral part of the community.

This level of trust and a bit of intellect allowed sawc to rob 2,000,000 IEP from the Irish State. So who needs money when you have brains? Not to say I'm condoning what sawc did in any way, just pointing out that if you want to make an influence in eRepublik, it's not necessary to spend any money whatsoever.

There are a lot of sawc's in eRepublik right now planning to rob states, start pointless wars, do the most outrageous PTO's and generally have a lot of fun at peoples' expenses. So the next time you're on a battlefield relishing in the damage done, remind yourself that the decision that led to the battle may have been made by someone with no money whatsoever.

Later this weekend we're going to talk about recent changes to military modules and how it's going to have a dramatic impact in how the world works.

See you later.
