Military and Foreign Affairs: Making friends and having fun.

Day 1,384, 20:24 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by Kevy Kev Kev Junior shabado

Hello eUK.

Welcome to my Military and Foreign Affairs manifesto. This manifesto will outline what our allies feel about us and how we can try to improve our relations with them. I’ve also taken a brief glimpse of the Military aspect of the game. I’m not as experienced as my opponent but I believe that my advisors along with the incoming MoD (as of yet undecided on who this will be) will be able to cope.

TL😉R below.

Last month feedback was gathered from people in the military on how to improve the experience. As far as I’m aware some of that stuff hasn’t been looked at. If I were elected I’d try and see what I could do to improve the overall enjoyment of the military. Speaking of which a discussion is ongoing right now on a changed based on demand. Since it really is an issue in which everyone in the UKAF has an opinion on I'm going to see what is said before making up my mind. Any decisions made will be based on the overall popularity along with judgement from myself and Thatcher. Things I do want to try though are to make the military more inclusive for everyone and have more co-operation between all branches leading to joint strike channels.

What I’ve just said doesn’t necessarily mean that I wouldn’t look to cause a shake in the military set up or tweak supplies, I just think that more discussion is needed with both senior military figures and the members of the armed forces before any major decisions are made.

One thing that I’d like to introduce to the military would be competing with ONE units for fun on a more regular basis. I think this is one thing we can do to make the military fun again. I don’t know about others but I really had fun on the day the UKSF competed against GAT to do the more damage. We eventually won and it helped to build relations with both Hungary and the organisers Poland.

Another thing that I think would be interesting to include is a reward system for people who rank up. This idea has floated around before but never really implemented. I feel as if we reward the people who rank up it will feel like a bigger achievement. I think going back to my domestics manifesto it might be awesome if we were able to take whoever ranked up in the UKAF and include them in the UK Today article, honouring our heroes on the battlefield and give them the thanks they deserve.

- Using feedback we already have to fix things
- More Coordination with Strikes

- Structure and Supply tweaks if needed

Foreign Affairs

Foreign affairs in the UK are always going to be a dodgy aspect due to our past. We’re currently a country neutral though technically allied to ONE so I’m going to spend this section of the article speaking about some of our ONE allies and how they feel about us. Thanks to Iain for helping out with the CPs of Macedonia and Serbia of which he knows a lot more about than me.

If you don’t want to read this recap, just scroll down to the next image as that’s where I start the general FA ideas. TL😉R is also below.

Macedonia are in a tough position now, mainly because the Turkish-Bulgarian war is over and they're facing attacks from 2 sides with it looking more than likely that China is going to be pushing through Iran. It’s obviously important to build on our already good relations with them. Iain has informed me that the new CP is most likely going to be someone not from ArMakedon (MU associated with the top Macedonian party) so it’s not known whether they will have the same attitude towards us so I feel as if we’ll need to prove again like we have many times this month that we are great allies.

Serbia as you may have noticed were recently beaten by Croatia which is really unfortunate. However, I’m informed they saw us fighting pretty hard for them in the war and as you can tell they are generally pro UK ever since our Phoenix days. Iain informs me that the likely new CP is going to be Unihorn who is supposedly a good friend of the UK. It can also be noted that the new ONE SG is also going to be a Serbian so we should be fine in this regard.

Another ally I’m going to speak about is Spain. We currently share a MPP with them and although a few of our citizens disagree due to their past and the whole France situation they appear to be warming up to us quickly. If you haven’t noticed their latest threat is from the USA and not from France so I think that in general we won’t have an issue this month with France/Spain this month which makes FA a lot easier to deal with.

Poland is the final big ONE country. As we’ve had such a rocky past with the whole Junior/Poland cannot into space thing they haven’t been warming to us as much as other countries have been. Obviously with the French issue a lot of our citizens (my potential deputy included) we’re not on the best of terms. However we’re coping just fine and I think the real test of our friendship will come when they are attacked in an original region.

With Sweden being right next to us and being in ONE I thought I’d mention them as well. They are very quiet but considering they are now out of Germany I feel it would be the time to start building relations with them.

Giving our allies a hug.

With some of the recent losses in ONE battles I have a feeling that they might look to expand. My goal this month would be to try and prove ourselves as a decent ally. This would involve hitting for our allies more and reducing the amount of battles we see on our own turf. This might be unpopular to a few of you, but you need to remember the long term safety of the UK.

Briefly speaking about Ireland, I know I’ve put their regions as a goal in my presidential campaign but what happens over the course of the month can easily change. I’m happy to continue fighting but I’m also fine to sign a treaty if it ever comes to that. This decision will ultimately come down to Congress though.

One of the things that the UK as a whole has been quiet on this month have been articles. I feel we need to show our allies that we love them with articles. It seemed to work when we wrote to Macedonia before (That article got over 1000 votes and hit #1 international for a while) and I think it’s great to show people who don’t track military output in those countries that we do care about them.

Continuing on with articles I’d like to post at least one article a month on the Foreign Affairs newspaper detailing our situation with two clickers in mind. After speaking to people who are relatively new to the game the majority had said that they had only found out about what the UK was up to until they had got IRC active. I’m aware that a MoHA article was published this month based on the alliances in the game but I think it would be great to see the MoFA write an article on the state of our allies and what they think of us.

Another idea was to make "Country Days". This is where we really show our worth to one particular country to tell them that we think they are awesome and focus on them for the day. Military, social, foreign affairs- the lot. Whether that is sending men, resources, making our guys hang out in their channels- everything.

This is something that has irked me for a while. Every month our Foreign affairs team appoints ambassadors to a particular country/region but in the end they just harass the MoFA for info. I’m suggesting we start up a scheme called true ambassadors. Rather than just having ambassadors as people on paper, send them abroad. Make them join allied MUs and allied channels. They don't need citizenship to do that, and I’m sure depending on the country the MoFA can help hook them up with a unit their strength. If these ambassadors are just cool and make friends it will do wonders for our reputation. I’d like to suggest dependent on how popular this idea is, keeping it to ONE based countries for now such as Serbia and Macedonia.

Continuing from the above point I think it would be nice if we could approach the MoFA of the respective countries and ask them if they want to do the same. How about inviting their seniors to come join UKSF for a month as honorary members? They'd come and mix with us, have fun, etc. It doesn't cost anything and when they go back they can be ambassadors for the UK. It’s really a win/win situation here if they agree.

Tom went offline again before he gave me images. >_>
