MI - Under Lamia

Day 757, 23:59 Published in USA USA by Heather Fuchs

For TOTALLY obvious reasons the majority of you who guessed about the bogus question this week were confident it was the comment about RivasA's Get Up And Dance song being "Kung Fu Fighting". Trust me that was his real answer. I would never embarrass anyone by making that up about them. *giggles*.

The one I made up was about which game outside of eRep he likes to play. The real version:
"My fave online game is Mars2025: I was playing that before eRep, and I still am."

Congratulations to Charlie Two's CO Evry who was the first to send me the correct answer. He has received his Q5 weapon. A correct answer was also received from Alpha QMG Sideswipe. Congratulations to you both, and as promised you and the winners from last week will be in the new story starting today!

Part One:

There was an odd stench in the tunnel. Part stagnate water, part rat feces, but also part electrical. You know that strange smell of wires so hot they could burst into flames. "Watch your step everyone, some of these puddles could be electrified." Evry cautioned as all five of them moved through the tunnel's dim light.

"Straight ahead 100 yards, then turn right" Lazert111 noted as he looked at the map. As any dedicated MI soldier would he was taking his position as navigator seriously. Last thing he wanted to do was get anyone lost down here. "How the frack did those Turks ever build this thing!" Angel of Music asked incredulously as they turned another corner and saw the amazingly engineered tunnel stretch on before them.

Sideswipe had spent some time in this part of Central Greece so he was aware of the beautiful landscape they were missing above them. But their mission wasn't to enjoy the Grecian countryside, it was to defend a national treasure. He knew they were deep underneath the city of Lamia. Moving forward through a set of intricate tunnels recently constructed by a elite group of Turkish terrorists.

Lamia was important to Greece and freedom loving citizens everywhere because it has been inhabited since the 5th millennium BC. From a military perspective it held special significance because it was one of the most important Spartan strongholds for decades. The "Kastro" was the city's ancient fortified acropolis and an icon of democracy.

MI Command found out the Turkish terrorists were staging an elaborate plot to destroy the now symbolic fort. To make matters worse, they were planning to do so on Greek Independence Day when President Karolos Papoulias was scheduled to give a speech on the acropolis honoring those who fell in the Greek War of Independence that began in 1821.

Given the shaky relations between Greece and Turkey, the eUSMI was asked to send a select squad to Greece to eliminate the threat. Mobile Infantry is always willing to defend one of their strong allies, so here we were.

As another string of slime fell from the low ceiling of this disgusting tunnel onto n4n0's arm he couldn't help but think back to the way this all started and smile. Unlike this it was a very clean room General beerman616 called them to that day last week. He could still hear the words ringing in his ears he was so proud.

"Gentleman, you may be wondering why I pulled this group together from companies across the MI." General beerman616 had such a commanding voice it instantly drew respect from everyone listening. "Each one of you" he continued, "have shown a unique sense of observation, of perception, of attention to detail. The assignment you are about to embark on will require you to use those skills to accomplish the mission and survive."

n4n0 thought about the General's message as they walked through the filth and stench of the tunnel and joking asked his colleagues "So.. is everyone feeling uniquely perceptive today?" He ducked as Angel and Lazert111 both threw slime from the walls at him.

"Ok get frosty everyone, we're coming up on the tunnel barracks." Evry noted. Silence fell over the small group and the only sound heard was the clicks and sliding bolts of their weapons.
