MI - Time for a Change

Day 779, 07:06 Published in USA USA by Heather Fuchs

This will be my final article as the Mobile Infantry's Press Officer.

More than 8 months ago I received a PM from then General Bastion. He had this wild idea to form a Mobile Infantry newspaper, something none of the other branches were doing at the time, and asked if I would consider becoming MI's first Press Officer. Since I had only transferred to the MI two weeks prior, I was shocked and honored beyond words.

We organized a quick contest to come up with the name, and General Bastion had the trust and confidence in me to turn me loose with this new communication tool. 33 weeks ago today the first issue of the Battle Cry was published, and I'm pleased to say in all the time since I've never missed a Thursday deadline.

We've had some wonderful times together, and it has been my pleasure to shine the spotlight on some of our great personalities and characters in the MI. But now it's time for me to step aside from my role as Press Officer and let someone new bring you the news and stories.

The MI deserves a powerful voice that people want to read and I know bringing in new blood will help stimulate that. Especially considering the amazing talent of who will be taking over this newspaper. This should put an end to discussion forum comments like the one recently posted about a story there by another author: "It's a whole lot better than that boring paper we're supposed to sub and vote up every week."

Thank you to all the readers out there who have enjoyed my stories, and posted such kind comments over the weeks. Please stay subscribed, and keep coming back each week to see the new edition. I know this newspaper is about to be become more exciting than anything you've seen!

And why is that? It is my great honor to introduce you to the newest MI Press Officer Hampton H. Hampton.

Hampton was born in Erie PA, and currently lives in Columbus Ohio (go Buckyeyes!). He's been an active member of the Mobile Infantry since last August, and currently serves as Commander of Alpha Company 8.

His favorite movie hero is Inigo Montoya (wondering if he means that down on his luck Spanish fencer from Florin) so you can tell Hampton is a man of unique taste.

When asked what book he's currently reading I laughed to learn it's Excel for Windows for Dummies. I'm not sure if that means he's a geek, or a geek wanna-be.

Welcome your new Press Officer, enjoy his articles, and whatever you do, be well out there my dear friends!.

To stay in touch with all MI news, you are encouraged to subscribe and vote for this paper.
