MDU: My month as Party President

Day 452, 07:04 Published in United Kingdom United Kingdom by MDU Press Office

It's been a long month. It seems ages since January 15th, where I received the largest number of votes in the elections and became the Movement for Democratic Unity's third Party President. After joining the party mid-December, and serving as Membership Director, I felt so priveliged that I, being so young and inexperienced, could rise to the highest party office and serve the members of the MDU to the best of my ability. One month on, that pride has not faded. I count myself as extremely lucky that I was given this opportunity.

During my term, I have seen many highs and lows for the MDU. In January, we gained our highest ever number of congressmen, and fully sealed our place as an influential party in the politics of the eUK. I saw the formation of the Destiny Coalition, which meant that for the first time an MDU-endorsed candidate was elected Prime Minister, and an MDU member was chosen to be his Deputy. I have seen the successes of our members, with MDU members becoming journalists, soldiers, politicians and businessmen. I feel very proud that these people have had the opportunity to achieve so much in the eUK and they are making a positive contribution and doing their party proud.

However, I have seen some bad points. During my term certain members of the MDU were publicly found to be multi-accounters, which was both highly embarassing for the party and upsetting to know that our friends were actually exploiting the systems We have also seen the departure of many people from the party; some leaving completely, some staying partially. However, we have the strength to carry on through hard times and we know that as a party, we will emerge from these sad times stronger and more ready for the future than ever.

Although I am standing again for a second term as the Party President of the MDU, I know that I am not guaranteed a win, with several other candidates challenging me for the position. This may be the last article I write as Party President, so I would like to say my thanks to those members that have really helped me during the past month:

Firstly, I would like to thank my Vice Party President, and truthfully my best friend on eRepublik: Patrick Reckitt. His graciousness in defeat at the January elections is worthy of a mention, but I would like to commend him on his fantastic services as a congressman, poltician, for his infinite wisdom, and for putting up with my endless ramblings on msn.

Secondly, to my Directors: CV James, Azra'eil, Ryan McCulloch, IndieKid, Horice P Fossil, dobis1, thehorseltd and Big Boy Bulley, the heart and soul of the MDU and tireless workers for the party. You guys deserve a medal!

To those that have left us: Richard York, Tommy Tommasino, Patrick Reckitt and IndieKid. Good luck for the future, and we hope to see you as MDU members again someday.

And to the other members of the MDU, for your patience, intelligence and willingness to work for the best interests of the eUK and the Movement, congratulations.

In good spirit for tomorrow, I would like to wish the best of luck to my opponents for the Party Presidency: thehorseltd, Jamesy, metalvolt and TheOnlyRyanCook.

Thank you everyone, its been fun, and I hope it will continue the same way for the next month!
Oexis, Party President of the Movement for Democratic Unity
